Well, I'm back from my vacation to Yellowstone!
I can't leave the States due to visa restrictions so my family came to see me :)

Yellowstone is so beautiful! It was crazy to think that I was in the caldera of the Yellowstone super volcano. It's so big that it just feels like we are on a mountain. There was lots of hiking and walking to see all the geothermal features. One day we spent at Grand Teton National Park and ended up hiking 5 mi. For someone who hasn't exercised much, that was a really tough walk including the elevation gain of over 1100 feet! Needless to say I am still recovering from the soreness of walking so much.

I tried to stick to my diet as much as I could but alas, vacationing is hard on diets. Most of the free breakfasts that we got with the hotel room was almost all carbs. Given all that I'm surprised I didn't gain more!
141.2 lb Lost so far: 13.6 lb.    Still to go: 21.2 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

Diet Calendar Entry for 24 June 2016:
110 kcal Fat: 9.00g | Prot: 7.00g | Carb: 0.00g.   Breakfast: Land O'Lakes Snack'n Cheese to Go! Co-Jack Natural Cheese. more...
gaining 2.0 lb a week

hope you had fun! out of curiosity, what did u eat while at hotels and out and about? i heard horror stories about some people going off on one day to a carb spike and eating like 140g carbs instead of only 20, and then they gained 7 lbs and it took a while to lose it. looks like you only gained 2-3 lbs which is great though

Sounds like a great trip! Vacations are always hard and if your family is anything like mine food is always an important part of any get together. I am meeting up with a couple of my sisteranfor a mini trip to Chicago. Hopefully I can get through the trip without gaining slot.

What? Can't leave the state? Heck, the illegals just invade everywhere, why can't you cross state lines. That is so odd since it's the "United" states. That one is New to me. Glad you had a nice time. Go travel! No one in the usa enforces any visa laws. (Sorry if that was too bold) your here, enjoy.

@Emmy Breakfast was usually cold hard boiled eggs/scrambled eggs/sausage and cream cheese (was working with mostly continental breakfast). (One day I didn't even have that and had yogurt instead). My mom likes to save a little money and time so we packed lunch a lot. So I got to pick a low carb wrap with veggies, tuna or turkey, and avocado. Dinner was a lot of steaks and salads, my family is Chinese and we are used to sharing meals and entrees, we once shared an order of wings, a bowl of soup, 16 oz rib eye and 10 oz flank steak between 7 people (including my brother who is a teenager). With all that hiking involved in visiting the park, any extra carbs was burned off (I'm assuming here). I did end up getting a tummy ache almost every time I ate too many carbs so that was a sign I was eating too much. @Blue Viking Food is important, but both my parents are very health conscious so they respect my decisions. Good luck with your mini trip to Chicago! My flight back got delayed there so I hope you're driving :P @Lizzy I'm on what's called Optional Practical Training and when I was filling that form to obtain that on my student visa it said that having a job in the US does not guarantee reentry to the US. Better safe than sorry! @HCB There was so much to see and so many activities! I felt overwhelmed going from one spot to another. One week was definitely not enough. I'd like to go back some day when I can afford all the hotel rooms or a camper :P
