Jendzen's Journal, 28 May 2016

Feeling down, I've been keeping my meals on point, working out with weights and cardio 5 days a week, and the scale hasn't moved in 9 days. 😢😢 I know muscle weighs more than fat and all that good stuff but seriously, why am I not seeing the numbers drop?

try cutting out processed foods, adding more leafy greens and some healthy fats. Usually works for me.. good luck and hang in there. Some one once told me .. how long did it take to gain all that weight? it will take just as long to lose it. And the scale is just one way to measure success but not the only way ..

Redgirl1974 that's true, it's just so frustrating sometimes. I follow a lchf diet, only coffee and water to drink.

Redgirl said it right. Have you switched anything in your diet in the past 9 days? Water intake good? Maybe increase your cardio and keep the weight training the same?

Not that I can think of, I try to stick to the same set of foods that I know I can have. My net carbs are always under 30, usually at 20, but there from fruits and vegetables, not breads and pasta.

I would track my food meticulously for a few days so to be able to see what's going on....

I hear that cardio makes your body more efficient at using energy and therefore can make your body more efficient at hanging onto weight. Less cardio and more weights? Also, calories matter, even on an LCHF plan.

I was getting frustrated at not seeing scale move, until I started actually looking at my body. I saw parts shrinking, in spite of the scale not moving. I wish I had thought to take measurements before I started, but I finally did a month into it. The last time I measured, 3 weeks later, only 4 pounds were gone, but I had lost 2 inches off my waist, and another 2 off my hips! Fat takes up WAY more volume than muscle does.

Maybe the fact that you HAVEN'T changed anything up in a while is the issue. I am not expert, but maybe shake it up a little and give your body a change. Lots of posts here lately about IF (intermittent fasting) and Carb Loading. It seems from what I am reading on here that our systems can kind of get stuck in a rut and need a little kick in the butt once in a while.

I say play with the activity........the cardio or the strength training. How much cardio and strength training are you doing in a day?

Your buddies have all said what I would have! Keep pushing! I can't see what you're eating but processed, salt and calories and dang hormones and not changing things up is what gets me. Way to go on the dedication. It will pay off!

Thank you all for the ideas... I'm gonna shake things up a bit and slow down the cardio for a while and focus more on weights. I keep my calories at about 1600 a day. I'll look into the IF, I don't know anything about it. I do see changes in my body and my measurements are way down along with clothing sizes. I'll make some changes here and report back in a week and see what happens! Thanks again everyone.

Engeland I do 30-40 minutes of cardio 5x's a week, along with weights on those days. I'm skipping cardio for a week and see what happens.
