I'm not sure about reducing protein as I try for about 1g per kilo of my weight and keep my carbs down but to increase fibre I tend to eat avocados and leafy green veg. I sometimes add ground psyllium husks to my diet by mixing in water and drinking before a meal. Not sure where you're based but I buy from Holland and Barratt. Of course swapping beans and pulses into your diet and reducing meat would do it. Don't forget to make sure you're drinking plenty of water if you're increasing fibre to help bulk it out and move along (if you get my drift 😉). Best of luck!

Why do you want to decrease your protein? Looking at your diet calendar, you're not eating too much. Try eating less processed food - eat as much natural food as possible (with the odd treat here and there). I'm not sure about all this increase your fibre trend. My friend had bowel cancer and the consultant told her whatever she must do is not eat fibre because it would make her constipated! Babies have just milk and they don't get constipated.

I have researched protein and several sources state that for my age etc I should have about 47 grams of protein. As for fibre I have diverticulitis and should have over 30 grams of fibre. I have just found out I shouldn't have seeds.

I see. I don't know how old you are but from what I've read most women should have at least 47 grams of protein so you may not need to worry about the amount you're consuming. Perhaps have a word with your doctor to reassure you. You could also ask if a prebiotic or probiotic would help with your diverticulitis. A prebiotic would give you soluble fibre but I'm not sure how it would affect your medical condition.

Thanks Doobrie, most people my age have diverticulitis but most don't know it. It is just the plumbing getting old and worn. It is only when matter gets trapped then you are in trouble. I was lucky two days nil by mouth. Three days intravenous antibiotics and I was right as rain. I have looked into it again and will try to keep as near 47 as possible. Tonight I over did it.My granddaughter was awarded a cup at the Girls Brigade. There was a tea after and my good intentions went out the window. So tomorrow is another new day.

Well, we all have those sort of days, especially when we have something nice to celebrate. Start again tomorrow :)
