I know water is recommended a lot on here but elsewhere I have read it's not necessary to drink a ton. I'm not a great water drinker. I tried to get a half gallon a day but find it difficult most days. How much do YOU drink? Is it to fill you up? How much would be the minimum?

My suggestion would be to drink at least 64 ounces a day, more if you can. My daily goal is 96 ounces and I usually drink more. Lots of benefits to drinking water and I think that if you're doing a ketogenic diet it's important to drink enough water.

I drink (4) 16 oz water bottles a day usually two in the am then two later on in the day but I also drink 3 cups of coffee a day. I have to stop in the am 2 hours before my cashier shift or Im in the bathroom all the time. That doesnt fly.

I used to drink 8 glasses. And found myself always running to bathroom. I now drink anywhere from 2-4 glasses a day (4 on days I workout) and feel good. And an losing weight better. I workout x2 week whole body and weight has been steadily decreasing. Of course I'm eating cleaner too. Sorry for the long note. Have a good day! 😊

I usually drink 1 - 16 oz bottle on the drive to work, 3 - 20 oz cups a day at work, 1 bottle on the drive home, and then 2-3 more bottles while walking on the treadmill at night. That comes up to between 120-140 ounces a day. I rarely drink anything other than water. And, yes, I am running to the restroom quite a few times during the day.

I drink a lot of coffee with almond milk instead of water. The latest studies say coffee is as good as water for hydration. So, total coffee per day is 48 ounces. Maybe I will have another 12 ounces of water, depending on how salty my food it, and then for dinner I will have a can of seltzer and after that a 16-ounce cup of tea before bed. Looks like I get about 100 ounces of liquid/fluid per day. If I am feeling hungry and don't have any calories left for the day I try to drink something to get rid of the feeling. I drink soft drinks about once a month and don't even have any in my house. The Mayo Clinic.org page says lots of fruits and vegetables have a lot of water, and then says this: What about the advice to drink 8 glasses a day? Everyone has heard the advice, "Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day." That's about 1.9 liters, which isn't that different from the Institute of Medicine recommendations. Although the "8 by 8" rule isn't supported by hard evidence, it remains popular because it's easy to remember. Just keep in mind that the rule should be reframed as: "Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of fluid a day," because all fluids count toward the daily total.

Being a hardcore Java Junkie, I know I drink way too much coffee. So, for every cup of coffee, I down a glass of water. I get bored with water, though. So, I keep ziplocs with lime slices and lemon slices in the freezer, and plunk them in when I need a little change. Cukes slices are great too, though right now, they are a bit pricey here in the far north. In the past, I've also dumped a packet of Emergen-C powder in water, if I haven't taken the vitamin.

Best to stick with clean water and lots of it when losing weight. About a decade ago, I had a lower bowel resection due to advanced diverticulosis. First question docs asked were How much coffee do you drink per day? Seems coffee is not particularly good for your gut -- has a kind of corrosive action which can contribute to weakening tissues in gastro system over the long run. Same with sodas Just because it's a fluid, doesn't mean it's healthy, particularly if using to flush your system of waste. You just gotta get used to doing it. Has taken me 18 months to get to 48 oz., but am amazed how positively doing so affects a variety of my body processes.

I go for 120 oz of "clean fluids" a day. So I count unsweetened coffee, plain tea, and water for that total.

I drink about a gallon a day. I also have 2 coffees a day. I feel like crap if i dont drink it. I have a pitcher and a 9oz cup. I keep it on my desk and keep refilling the cup. Same thing at home I just keep my cup filled and near me. Outside of that I dont think about it I just drink it because it is there.

I drink 2 cups of coffee which is in my BIG mug and is 12oz, so really I'm drinking 3 cups. BUT I run it thru the keurig once on big cup and again on medium cup, so it's just one pod for each mug full. It's been so cold tho I have been having another cup, decaf, in the late afternoon. Big problem for me is I rarely feel hungry so don't think about drinking water til evening hits and I think, crap I forgot to drink my water... I don't like the "feel" of sloshy fullness water gives me when I DO drink it and I definitely don't like dragging a cup/bottle around with me all day. If I count the glass I drink in the morning and my coffee I will shoot for 2 more cups of water a day. That is do-able for me, I think

I think it really comes down to drinking before you get really thirsty, but not to the point where it makes you miserable. I just end up drinking 120 oz by keeping a bottle of water on me, mostly because I just get thirsty a lot. I wouldn't force it.

Most doctors who are very progressive are now saying that you need to trust your body and only drink when you are thirsty. According to them..this is because if you drink when you aren't thirsty..you are likely watering down your electrolytes..which in turn can make you feel awful. So..to be on the safe side..I only drink when thirsty.
