Does anyone remember the TV show, "Kids Say the Darnedest Things"? It starred Art Linkletter, and then Bill Cosby, in a later incarnation of the show. I work as a Substitute Teacher, and encountered a situation that was typical of that show. While subbing for a third grade class, recently, as part of their morning work, the class had to write a paragraph on a journal topic. The topic was this: "If you were alone on a deserted island, what would you do to survive?" However, I made the mistake of spelling "deserted", "desserted", when I wrote it on the board. One of the boys responded by saying, "I would just eat all the dessert on the island". I then realized my spelling mistake, which the kids probably weren't aware of, but I got a hardy laugh out of the situation, since the boy thought the island would be full of "desserts", and not that he would just be the only one on the island. LOL, :-) I corrected my spelling error, but by then I was already laughing, and had to explain the scenario more clearly. :-D LOL
