I know why I am having trouble getting and keeping the weight off, with this new job I don't get off until 7:30 then I come home and eat something. I just feel like I am starving, I try to eat a small bowl of cereal or drink a slim fast, but they only seem to satisfy me for a short period of time and I am starving again.

Cereal is all sugar int he end. eat protein and a healthy fat, perhaps? a few nuts, hard boiled egg, half an avocado...those foods will last l;onger and metabolize more slowly.

Good luck - I get home late from work, too. So I understand the need for healthy choices.

Ditto getting home late. I work 2nd shift and get home close to 11pm and am hungry when I get home too!! I try to munch on carrots or cucumbers dipped in yogurt dressing or a salad or clementines or raspberries etc...nuts and avacados are wonderful but I have found for me that I need to avoid them at night if I want to loose weight. Air popcorn with seasonings instead of butter might be something to try. :)

Boiled eggs are my go to food. I boil them up an 18 pack at a time and label them boiled lol. That way I just grab what I need with my fruit. They are also a great on-the-go food to pack for lunch or dinner. That might be a way for you to go.

No cereal - it's like eating crack. Dr. Atkins explains the whole "carbs will make you hungry and want to eat more carbs" phenomenon pretty well in his book. Same with the South Beach Diet.

Get a cooler and start bringing some food to work with you. Protein and good fats will help keep you satiated. Greek yogurt, cheese sticks, veggies and hummus, protein bars, apple with peanut butter, etc. Have a side salad waiting for you at home with a low cal dressing, while you prepare dinner. Get a crock pot. There are lot's of low calorie crockpot recipes which will be ready when you get home. Some great sites: Emilybites.com, Skinnytaste.com, Laaloosh.com Planning is key.

Beans is another good staple to have cooked and ready to nuke when you get home. I make about about a 1 quart pot on the weekend. Keep them in the fridge. Get home, nuke a .5-.75 of a cup for 5 minutes, and I am ready to eat. I find the beans to be very filling, calorie and carb sensible. Lettygaylor (a weight loss success who is on fatsecret a lot) has a blog with some really good ideas for food: http://harddoesnotequalimpossible.blogspot.com/2015/05/what-do-i-eat.html

I do bring a Lean Cuisine and a slim fast to work with me to eat or drink during my work, and that does ok, it is like from the time I get home I am starving and I eat something light, but I just keep eating and eating, I think maybe it is stress eating from working.
