A forward step (I hope). Last night Love was more interested in chewing on her peanut butter filled Kong than sleeping. Kong is located in her kennel. I'll be honest, I was quite fearful of putting her in the kennel and then falling asleep. She is a horse. And has proven damaging of inanimate objects. I tried to put her in our bedroom and she wouldn't settle. So, I tried it. Put her in the kennel, gave her treats, and then I slept in the same room on our short chaise lounge. I'm nearly 6' and the chaise lounge is perfect for someone 5'5". During the night, she would push on the crate, and I would get her attention with the fly swatter (hitting my blanket), and tell her to lie down. Apparently, she knows that command in addition to sit. She would settle down for a while and then we'd start again. I think she slept better than I did. I gave her a treat this morning for staying in the kennel all night. Baby steps.

Suggestions received -- leave the tv on. Put a blanket over the top of the crate. Leave an item of clothing that smells like us in the kennel.

Good news is we are walking her every evening about .8 mile. Plus everytime I take her out to potty (about every 2 hours), we walk around the edge of our property twice. (two long narrow lake lots) She has some puppy energy, but not as much as a Boykin Spaniel would! She just likes to be near her people for sure. We're still trying to figure out the anxiety stuff. Got her a diffuser and lavender/chamomile spray for her area, and that seems to have helped a little bit. Now we just have to experience time with her. Tonight we got invited to a birthday party. We are going. We are taking Love. But we are not leaving her in the car or in the fenced in yard. And we cannot bring her in the house. So, it's a huge adjustment for us. We're used to Rufus who was fine with us gone -- he would sleep in our bedroom or on the sofa until we returned. Love is not that easy....yet. She has Rufus' demeanor -- calm. It's just the separation thing puts her over the edge.

Our contractor called...wanted to know if she'd done any damage in the house, we admitted yes. Sure he was disappointed too. She will meet him Thursday.

I really appreciate all the comments.

Aside from her, my appetite has not been where it normally is. This morning felt light headed after hot shower. ***TMI Alert*** Looked like white mucus in stool. ***TMI Alert over!*** Cough not as bad -- been taking Ginger Root tablets for cough. Also had Thyme/Honey tea last night (really good). Honey for cough. Still taking Allegra D in mornings and Benadryl at night. Was supposed to call for a specialist appt today if not better. It's better -- not as irritated. Also taking Tagamet for acid reflux and of course diet has changed considerably.

Goal for today is continue to work on pumping up my immune system. Personally, I think it has been shot to heck and struggles to recover.

Just over ready to feel "normal." And have a dog we can leave in the crate without freaking out and destroying our home.....
