This past weekend I attended the TOPS SRD (state recognition days) for all of South Carolina. I was fortunate that it took place in my own city so that I didn't have to travel far or incur the cost of a hotel room.
The meeting which awarded and recognized top weight loss achievers past and present was most inspirational to me, and I am ready to commit to improving my health and losing excess pounds. I have already taken some steps in the right direction by changing up the layout of my kitchen, putting some countertop appliances in storage and bringing out ones I should be using, like a kitchen scale and my recently-purchased NutriBullet Pro.
When making my chapter's badges for the convention, I learned how to use my portable laminating machine, and now I am in the process of designing some charts that I will laminate and put on my fridge. Then I can use a dry erase marker for the check marks and clean them off at the end of each week. I will also start logging my food and exercise and will try to plan a week's worth of meals in advance so that I am not tempted to eat out or pick up fast food.
I realize that I have been going up and down the same 5-6 pounds, and it's time to make a plan and then get and stay on track. I have been so undisciplined all my life, and at 67 years old, change is hard. Yet, I know it can be done for as I witnessed this past weekend, lots of people have done it and succeeded.
Don't know if I have mentioned this before in my F.S. journal, but I have quite a few physical problems and mobility issues. There was a woman at the convention in a wheelchair who had lost at least 60 pounds this past year. I thought to myself, "If she can do it, so can I!"
I don't want to keep starting over. I want to get it right this time around and then keep going until I meet my goals. Starting with small goals and then will add new ones. One step at a time. One meal at a time. One day at a time.
