I am still on the fence about this diet. If you look at last months diet calendar, clearly the calorie deficit supports my weight loss numbers, about a half pound a day. Which still makes me wonder if it all boils down to calories and what you eat doesn't matter purely for weight loss. Now HEALTHY weight loss is a different animal lol......

My son is drinkng a bit now and ate some grapes this morning that stayed down thank god. We had a few hairy moments during the night but he seems to have turned the corner. I dont care how experienced a parent you are its still scary as hell when the wee ones get sick. I most likely won't be around much today again but I'll pop in to record and stalk your posts.

For Friday and the weekend I would like to do a recipe thread of your favorite or go to diet snacks. Greatly appreciate anyone who wants to contribute. I am a firm believer that a well timed snack can head off diet disasters.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Nic

Nic, glad your son is doing better :) never good when your kids are sick even if they are 29. As for the diet thing, my thoughts are as long as you exercise and eat in the real world meaning eat what you want just in moderation and keep your calories 1500-1700 you will drop they weight and enjoy the food you like they key for me is protein and if I crave something like cheese cake nothing wrong with a couple of bites to kill the craving. This is what works for me. You have to find your comfort level in what your doing.

Glad your son is on the mend. As for diet I think the key is to prevent blood glucose/insulin spikes which will prevent one from burning fat. Also eating enough protein to protect muscle mass. That way your weight loss will come mostly from fat loss. This is very important to me since I'm diabetic. Also being on a low carb diet and not eating grains except for oats every once in a while has improved my health markers such as blood lipids, blood glucose and blood pressure in addition to weight. But everyone is different and we need to find what works for us.

PS, I'm with Glen....if you can sustain if for life, it's great...if not, maybe tweaking is a good idea :)

I think everyone agrees, you have to eat what you can live with for a very long time. I am still debating about this. I low carbed for a long time and when I went off the plan I kept burning fat for a while, and then BOOM! Rapid weight gain - PLUS a lot more. Low carb is for life. If you feel it's not healthy, you won't stick to it. Just my experience for what it's worth.

Did you only start on 13th? Your diet and exercise look like you're smashing it so just stick with it. If you've only recently increased the walking and running volume you could be adding some muscle which will help you shortly. Personally I'd replace the fat bombs with something like yogurt, and add more greens as you're light on the veggies for good health, but other than that it looks very good, just keep going. Personally I've ditched sugar entirely but still eat high quality carbs.

Calories is what it is all about. Health is another animal. Performance is even another.

You have to go with food that works for you. I still eat a sausage mcmuffin every Sunday morning and some mornings when I'm out with my husband. When I get up at 5 those days I need food by 8:30. But, I plan my calories and sodium around it. Apparently my downfall is yeasty warm homemade bread. Packs the weight on every time. I only eat pasta OR rice once a week. But I do eat potatoes most days. They are a powerhouse of nutrition, if not protein. I was doing great for a long while, but winter did me in. Go to snack? Red grapes dipped in sabra classic hummus. SO good!
