Sweeet2th's Journal, 29 December 2014

I've been up to my eyeballs lately with social media accounts for my health coaching business and studying for my exam! Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, blah, blah, blah... It's all a little dizzying, to tell you the truth. I had previously opted out of engaging with social media sites with the exception of this site for a long time, and now it's become a necessity for me. *sigh* Oh well.

On the weight-related front, I've somehow managed to drop another pound or so without really trying. I think it's mostly because I've increased my strength training lately and have been deliberately not indulging in holiday-related treats. Also, with the weather being as temperamental as it has been lately, I've rediscovered my WiiFit, and more specifically, the Island Bicycling game, where you pretend to pedal a bicycle all over a scenic tropical island. It makes for a fun "mini-mental vacation" when my mind gets overwhelmed re-memorizing metabolic pathways and cell biology I learned as an undergrad for my exam.

Oh well, that's enough typing. I simply must return to my studies if I'm to have a shot at passing this exam!

Kale, Kettlebells and Kisses to you all!

God luck on your exam. How can you pretend to pedal?

You stand on the Wii Fit board and move your feet up and down, walking in place. You hold the remote in your hands and steer with your arms. It goes faster if you lean forward or "pedal" faster, which you need to do to go up steep hills or bike through the sand. I love it. It doesn't sound like much, from the way I described it, but I'm no stranger to serious exercise (frequently running 10+ miles in an afternoon) and I still break a sweat when I play this game! It says I usually pedal the equivalent of about 10 miles for each 30 minute session I do!

Sounds cool. I haven't used my wiifit in a long time. Wonder if gamespot would have some programs cheap. Have a balance board and I don't remember what else. My balance always shows up goofy cause of my leg surgery years ago. Will stop in there sometime soon, I need something fun. My grandkids use it more than I do, they like the boxing.

Btw I can't run due to leg injuries that affected my left knee and ankle, low impact work well. Would love to again as I used to run.

I have a bunch of Wii games, and try to play some of them at least once a week, in addition to the Wii Fit disc, 3-4 times a week. It helps a lot in the winter time when I get bored with the treadmill and things are icy outside or it's already dark and my safety would be a concern. I use it a lot for taking study breaks and the Sig-O and I usually spend an hour or two one or two evenings a week playing games as a healthier and more interactive experience than just watching television. It gets my mind off my studies and gets the blood pumping and I like that I can do it for 2 minutes or 2 hours, depending on my schedule/needs.

Gamespot usually has a lot of games for the older Wii console (not the newer Wii U) for less than $10. I've picked up most of my games for a lot less than original retail price. Wii Sports Resort is another one of my favorites. It's like a mini island resort vacation!

Thank Sweet2th. I love the pun of your bio name. I have an old Wii, so I too appreciate the information that you have shared.
