Hi there, everyone!
I know it's been a million years since I've written, but things have been beyond hectic here at "Casa de Health Crusade"! My weight is still holding steady at my goal, and I'm still unwavering with my commitment to live an optimally healthy life. I had no idea life could feel THIS AMAZING!
This past weekend, I spent a couple of long days with working on photo shoots, head shots, business cards, documentary film footage, website design, and about half a billion social media sites. OK, that's a slight exaggeration. A quarter of a billion is more like it. ;)
On top of all of this, I'm organizing a local 5K training running club, testing and writing recipes for a cookbook and I've started working with a few clients.
Making healthy decisions isn't a chore for me anymore. It's just part of my life. Running, yoga, and tons of veggies are "the norm" for me now. At the end of the day, I'm EXHAUSTED, but oh-so thrilled at how my life has completely transformed into something meaningful, positive and so full of joy and vitality!
Go out and grab this day by the horns, Folks! Make this week extraordinary!
Here's a sneak peek from this weekend's photo shoot:
This is what happens when you eat your vegetables!

I've been up to my eyeballs lately with social media accounts for my health coaching business and studying for my exam! Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, blah, blah, blah... It's all a little dizzying, to tell you the truth. I had previously opted out of engaging with social media sites with the exception of this site for a long time, and now it's become a necessity for me. *sigh* Oh well.

On the weight-related front, I've somehow managed to drop another pound or so without really trying. I think it's mostly because I've increased my strength training lately and have been deliberately not indulging in holiday-related treats. Also, with the weather being as temperamental as it has been lately, I've rediscovered my WiiFit, and more specifically, the Island Bicycling game, where you pretend to pedal a bicycle all over a scenic tropical island. It makes for a fun "mini-mental vacation" when my mind gets overwhelmed re-memorizing metabolic pathways and cell biology I learned as an undergrad for my exam.

Oh well, that's enough typing. I simply must return to my studies if I'm to have a shot at passing this exam!

Kale, Kettlebells and Kisses to you all!

I'm weighing in here, folks and it looks like I've lost 1.3 lbs in the last 6 weeks or so, but my guess is it's a slight case of dehydration, even though I have two humidifiers going full-tilt 24-hours a day here! Who knew how DRY it is during a Pennsylvania winter? It feels worse than when I lived in the California desert! I easily drink a gallon of water a day, but it's just never enough, especially if I have a sweaty workout that day.

On the weight management front, it feels really good to have maintained my goal weight for the past couple of months, arguably during two of the more challenging months of the year for weight gain! I feel really confident this next year will further solidify my unwavering dedication to permanently kicking my chronic health problems to the curb and living an optimally healthy life.

I couldn't have imagined this time last year how completely different my life is now. I'm pain/disease-free and truly loving and living life to its fullest. This time last year, I was trying so desperately to heal my very sick body, practically dragging myself a mile on a treadmill, dreaming of the life I have now. Now, I'm living the dream and you can too!

Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, festive and healthy holiday season!
Kale, Kettlebells and Kisses to you all!

I went on another fabulous run this afternoon, Folks. The sun is shining and I couldn't resist hitting the pavement to log a few more miles on the ol' running shoes! I'm convinced everyone in my little mountain town thinks I'm insane. They're not exactly "health conscious" here, seeing as the only business in town is a corner beer/cigarette/junk food "bodega" type of store. I've yet to see another runner, and the only walkers I see are the people walking to and from the beer store to buy more smokes. *sigh* They look at me running up and down these crazy hills like I'm an alien or an escaped mental patient. Oh well.

After my run, it was so warm and sunny, I was able to soak in a few rays on the porch before heading in to study. Gotta get that vitamin D while I can since it seems like the sun only comes out once a month here in the winter time. I just keep telling myself, "The days are starting to get longer now!", so that helps me get through these dismal winter months - well, that and my endorphins from running. Exercise, the world's most underutilized antidepressant. Use it, Folks!

OK, enough typing, more studying!
Go out and make this week extraordinary, everyone!

Kale, Kettlebells and Kisses to you all!
