GlennM's Journal, 03 May 2011

I got another cell phone and activating it is proving to be a complete pain, on top of it I got it like three days late because our wonderful postal service delivered it to one of my neighbors. I will be so thrilled to get out of this place where they even screw up the mail as there are so many people here. I am doing well with the dieting. Anyway, things are going OK - this afternoon after the nausea I am having passes I will go to the store maybe and also edit the western. I have so much work to do with that, but in a few months I know all the toil will show its results. The dieting is going well, no more buffets for me though. I hope everyone is well... heavy rain is expected all day tomorrow, we've had enough already this spring.

I just checked my email, all sorts of garbage about self-publishing, which only a millionaire can do profitably; along with that more crap about drugs that have money deals because of malpractice, somehow they know I have arthritis so lots of spam with that stuff and of course names of desperately lonely attractive women seeking men too, that would probably crash a computer the instant someone opens any of this rubbish. I just don't know who wastes all their time sending this junk and who the hell dares and opens any of it? I'm done venting about it, but it is getting a bit too much lately... have a great Tuesday everyone...

Hi Bren - my friends Marge and Ted went to W PA near Mount Pleasant area and moved there last October. Anyway, I am reading a book by an agent who requested to see my work. It is 1. Difficult to get published 2. Difficult to sell books unless one is extremely lucky from the get-go, or if one has established themselves with numerous books. It is a bit sobering, but I will within a year most likely have four to six books done in final draft form, so my odds will be better to get things going than someone just out of the gate with one book. I may be elderly before I'm living with any means, but I have been poor since I left home at age 19, so it isn't difficult living with nothing as I never had anything on my own. Yes, rain here tomorrow, two appointments too... thanks Bren for checking in with me...

HI Glenn, we were poor also growing up. But I think that makes it easier on us now that the world is having to give up and lose a lot of stuff. We have been there done that and we can do with out as we have done it before. Oh your still young yet your only in your forties. Wait until you get my age and start thinking old buddy.. But I am only as old as I feel in my mind. So I am just a youngen. Hahahaha Have a great evening..........Bren

Glenn, sorry that you are feeling a bit nauseous. I try to keep some ginger tea or capsules around as it is excellent for nausea. It is also great for sea sickness. Hope that the rains end for you soon...it is sunny here today, but now we have a frost warning for tonight...the minute the clouds go away the temps at night drop. Oh, well, can't have everything just the way I want it, can I? Hope you get your shopping done and have a great evening.

Bren - I was raised in a house and wasn't poor until I left home and joined the service and got out on my own; my parents both had OK jobs so we didn't do without. I really never have had much money as an adult to do anything at all. - ctlss, I have taken ginger capsules all day. It may be a migraine that isn't bad, but is just nausea. I shopped and got needed things but I'm very tired and will go to bed early tonight, tomorrow I have two appointments...

Well we lived in a house as well we just didn't have a lot of money for any thing extra......

I was raised sort of that way too Bren - but as an adult I have less than everyone I know... Material things don't mean anything really, for example people going into the service with a family are on food stamps usually. I got things when I needed them as a child and now can't pay for dental fillings or anything like that. Things could be worse - there are homeless people downtown every day, at least I have an apartment...

I know what you mean Glenn. Its hard these days unless you have a job that pays well or your married and have 2 jobs. But my goodness things are just getting out of hand price wise. I used to buy a weeks worth of groceries for $25 and eat very well. But that money now won't buy you 2 days worth of any thing.

Yes, Bren - I spent almost $200 for groceries on Sunday - for myself the next few weeks. People where I work need money so badly often they go into work quite sick, fainting or vomiting etc. Anyway, I have to stop the pity party I am giving myself as I got the writing I needed done. Yes, you're right for a single person it is much more difficult than it is if there are two incomes coming in...
