Happy Friday!

Got my trial CPAP machine yesterday. I wished someone had warned me what my morning results would be after swallowing air all night! For some reason, it never crossed my mind. Tonight I'll try the chin strap included though I don't think it'll keep me from swallowing air. I just want to see what the results are. I made a joke about the chin strap looking like the ones I saw in the old classic movies. They used to think wearing it at night would keep the skin under your chin firm. Unfortunately, the tech was too young (35ish is my guess) to get the joke...man do I feel old lol.

So far I can't say I woke "completely" refreshed but then I've only used it once and it does take some getting use to. I did wake at 7:30 feeling "ok" though which is unusual so I'm hoping:)

Funny though, I got in bed after putting it on and Solace didn't like it at all! She paced, she whined..she even got out of bed and barked at me lol. After a while she realized that the machine was staying on and hesitently crawled back into bed for the night.

Also saw my eye dr. I have cataracts. No wonder my vision is deteriating. Anyway, got an appointment for a consultation next month and possible surgery. I hope my insurance ok's this. My vision drives me nuts but there have been so many cut backs in the last couple of years. I would like to be able to read my books again.

I hope everyone is well and doing good!

Oh honey, so sorry about your eyes. Something about things going wrong with the eyes always freaks me out. I was in a car accident as a child (5 or 6) and had glass in my eyes. Ever since then I refuse anything near my eyes - and especially no contacts, let alone the thought of surgery. Yikes. But as far as the CPAP, hopefully you will continue to see improvements and start waking completely refreshed. Love.

truly wish you luck with the cpap, I was told to use one 2 years ago and never could stand it, so mine sits in its little suitcase in my garage

Glass in the eyes - very scarey Keli! What an awful experience. Without vision, we couldn't even be on here. Fortunately, I can still increase fonts but books are another matter. I'm also trying to do some simple crochet but it's not so simple. I made soup but checking my bowl for the bay leaves to remove, can't find them. It's too blurry so I have to be extra careful of small bones as well. I admit, the idea of eye surgery is a bit daunting to me but I need my vision too much not to:)As for the CPAP, I'm hoping toooo..(smiles) Love!

@crazysquaw. Yeah, when I 1st put it on it took a good 20-30 minutes before I was comfortable with it. I tried the different masks and found the small nostril mask much more comfortable than the "darth vader" one lol. Still, it definately takes some getting use to but if it helps me feel better... and it may even save me money on coffee lol!

Hi Ruby, it took my husband about 3 to 4 days to get used to his and they didn't have the nostril one back then. He now does have them and he loves them. That machine saved his life. So keep trying and you'll get used to it and so will Solace. I have heard that the eye surgery will make a big difference for you...Good luck with that too. How is your daughter doing?? Hope she is doing fine.....Take care of you.. Sending {{Hugs}} Bren

Ruby - Sounds like you are trying to cope with a lot of things at once. Take a deep breath and do what you need to do to take care of your health. After you get your eyes fixed sure you'll be able to take a better look into the mirror - and you'll like what you see!

Hey Bren, yeah - I did better last night and so did Solace. Even so, I do think it's making a difference. As for my daughter, Tia's been referred to high risk care. The placenta is at the bottom of her uterus but she has another upcoming ultrasound to see if it's moved out of the way yet. Meanwhile no "yippy yippy" lol. Everything else is wait and see. She says her belly is too big for her pants now:)

Morning BuffyBear! Actually, I've been without good vision for a few years but the last few months it's gotten worse. So, I'm really excited if they can restore at least some of my vision. The doc says no damage from my diabetes but could have the onset of glaucoma as well. Anyway, one thing at a time! And yes it'll be weird to be able to see better in the bathroom mirror. I've been having to use a magnifying mirror for some time now.

Ruby - Got good news for you! One of the benifits of a low glycemic diet (like yours) is improvement of glaucoma. I got mine checked after I found out my Mom had glaucoma (This was at my highest weight). My pressure was borderline high and the doc told me to come in and be rechecked. After watching my diet the recheck was fine and has remained good. So keep up the good work!
