Kathy Vanish's Journal, 01 October 2014

30 days until Halloween. Believe me my daughter is counting. I always hated Halloween, but she loves it. I sure hope it is nice so she can go trick or treating this year.

I am still bummed about the poor weight loss I am experiencing. Deep down I know that it has to be something I am doing wrong, now just to find it. I am never going to be able to give up all of the good foods I eat like steak, but I have cut back. Yesterday, I didn't go to red robin and have lunch because I didn't want to sit through the backup on the interstate. That saved me some calories.

I am not good at low calories under 1200-1500 as I get a headache, get bitchy (sorry for the language, but it's true), and I can't keep up with my daughter.

How did I let it get to this point. 50 pounds overweight, hormones out of wack, and my doctor doesn't know what to tell me because I am healthy at the moment.

At least I am happy with everything else in my life. That's a plus.

Well, I am stuck at home today because I am waiting on a phone call. I think I will go do some laundry, clean the bathrooms, clean the kitchen, and do some zumba before I need to pick up daughter from school.

Sorry for your stall. I rarely ate below 1200-1500 over this last 8 month journey for me. I was slow to start losing in the beginning and then I stalled for about a month back in June. There's no magic bullet. I tried to vary how many calories I ate over the course of a week to trick my body, but that didn't always happen. Just trust that eventually it will happen, even if slowly. I didn't make anything absolutely forbidden. I just ate less bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and alcohol. I ate more fruit and vegetables. I exercised, but even that was hit and miss with my back issues. Don't let anyone who is very extreme tell you you have to do things THEIR way to succeed. You might choose to try something else and it may give you good results, but that needs to be YOUR choice. Good luck! Enjoy your Zumba!

Thanks! You have made me feel a little better. I just want to see results. I read everyone's success stories and want to have one too.

I am guessing that stress and not enough sleep is holding you back. You can zig-zag your calories between 1200 and 1500 per day. You don't have to go lower then that. Hang in there.

Actually I get 8 hours of sleep every night and I am not stressed any more than normal everyday stuff.

Snezica after I posted I got to thinking about the stress thing as I haven't actually been sleeping very well because of this cold so I asked my husband if he thought I was acting stressed out. He said "yes" without even thinking about it, so maybe I do need to work on my stress level.

Lowering the stress level is never easy but you can do it. I don't have a husband or kids so it's easier for me and I can focus more energy and time into weight loss. You are doing the best you can. My advice would be for you to eat 85% of the time healthy so you can feel full and then 15% some junk food so you don't feel deprived. After a while you get used to eating that way.
