Ok - so I just tried one of the new Atkins Canadian Bacon/egg/cheese muffins - UGH - the muffin itself was like sawdust, and the Canadian Bacon had the consistency of an old tire...thank goodness they only come 2 to a box...does ANYONE on here know if anyone makes low carb english/type muffins? I have some really good low carb tortillas, but need a little variety - in lieu of english muffins, what about l/c breads? I know about Sara Lee...but anything else? :)

Plus - and I don't know why I never noticed this before, but CoffeMate SF french vanilla creamer is 2g carbs/1T - but International Delight is only 1g/1T...which means that my 2 cups of coffee in the morning with the CM creamer is 1/3 of my daily carb allowance, since I'm on induction again...UGH!!

I am not a big fan of low carb breads either, but I do love the muffin in a minute. If I want to use as bread I just don't add the cinnamon or sweetener.

You can check my cookbook for an idea of simply egg and meat muffins (I also add beans, but you don't have to do that - you can add veggies or cheese instead). Even though I use beans, it still comes out to less than 2g net carbs per muffin. If you're looking for some "bread" as well, you can use 1.5 tbs of coconut flour (6g carbs, 3.75g fiber) and a little coconut oil, salt and baking power: http://thecoconutmama.com/2012/01/grain-free-flat-bread/ Are you counting total carbs or net carbs? I don't know how Atkins works in detail so I'm not sure if either of those options work for you.

I make and freeze my own for rush mornings! Turkey bacon, fried egg, cheese. On whole grain muffin.

The Jimmy Dean (Egg white, Turkey sausage and cheese) are pretty good and very convenient. It's probably better and more cost effective to make your own using egg whites (or real eggs) and a slice of low fat cheese on one of those yummy 100 calorie Deli Thins. No sawdust and old tires required, LOL!

There is a Flax bread that is REALLY good and it is NOT Ezekiel...I will try to find the brand--usually in the health food store. I found it at Food For Less if you have one in your area. It's in the what I call "the Gluten free corner" of the store. it has like 2 net carbs per slice. Before that--I made my own flax "foccacia" style bread--you can check out my cookbook if you like.

thanks for all the comments - my only problem is I absolutely HATE to cook (when I try to make something new, it usually looks like something nasty on a plate), but I will look into these :)

Taic69 - I haven't had any problems with the other Atkins products I've tried - most of the are really good (i'm not crazy about dark chocolate, and they use that a lot), so it kind of surprised me that this sandwich was so bad...O well, live and learn lol

I don't eat low carb bread/tortillas/etc. so I'm no help there. But I have eaten Atkins' breakfast and snack bars once in awile, and they're pretty good. But while traveling a couple weeks ago I picked up an Atkins frozen dinner - Beef Merlot...No. Just no. It was horrid. On the bright side, it was so gross it ruined my appetite for the evening so I didn't cheat :)

Nikki - I actually LIKE the Beef Merlot - needs a little salt/johnnys seasoning, but I thought it was pretty good lol
