Excellent choice. ;) I am a big supporter of eating that way, but you already knew that.

So you're going with 20% of calories carbs, not a certain number of grams? That may be harder to track. Let me know how that works out for you. I'm curious.

If you check todays log, which is now completed but not all eaten, you will see I got in at 19% carbs. No starches. That puts me at just under 100 gr when you take out the fiber. Some would say that's not very low carb, but compared to the SAD (Standard American Diet) it is. That puts me at close to the 30% protein of my old standard Zone diet, but lower in carbs by 20% and higher in fat by 20%. I'm not feeling carb depleted, and they were all 'good' carbs. I'm not particularly concerned about ketosis. With Zone I lost a lot of weight without going there, and without losing muscle mass, and I believe this diet will help me do the same. 20% carb I'm hoping will be my max carbs. If I'm under it a little lower, that's fine with me.

Good Luck NM. I hope you find the right balance of Macros for you. After losing my excess weight and getting using my own diet plan (which turned out to be kind-of low carb, low fat, low cal, higher protein), I decided to try LCHF for my maintenance mode. I just couldn't make it work. I stuck with it for over a month. I felt sluggish & hungry and I gained weight. I know that it works well for many, many people and I still believe that it can provide a better hormonal balance. I just couldn't find a good balance for me. So I'm reverting to a no grain, no sugar, high protein diet, I will try to keep my fat level higher than in my weight-loss phase. I'm continuing to eat meat with higher fat content, as well as bacon and butter.
