GlennM's Journal, 11 March 2011

I am doing well, and am sad to see the devastation in Japan, it was on TV earlier this morning. I lived in Los Angeles for nearly seven years, so went through that 6.8 Northridge quake and many others; most notably the Landers and Big Bear quakes the same morning. I prayed a lot when the ground was shaking that badly. I am so glad I don't live there anymore, though it is a wonderful place to be at, with great weather. Anyway, sometimes the powers in the universe above us make us realize how lucky we are sometimes as life can be very fragile. I hope everyone is well. I bought some gluten-free food yesterday, OK, but the crackers are not as good as Ritz, say. Have a great weekend ahead everyone...

Yes, what a terrible tragedy that happened to those who live in Japan. Praying with all of the rest of you for the Japanese people. Have a blessed weekend my friend.

@Glenn, hey were were in Cali at the same time. Moved there just before Northridge and stayed for about 20 years until coming back to CT. We had enough of the earthquakes too, not fun at all. Oh yeah, the fires also drove us out in the end, almost lost our house 2x to wild fires!

Cindy - I hope things get better. Bren - it is quite a tragedy. Babs - I have had enough of living in Cali, that was why I permanently gave up my nursing license. Anyway, I believe in God as you all know, I am aware of advanced astrology. This was a day an astrologer said to watch out for, I think I mentioned the 10th and 11th of this month a few months ago, next week a very close full moon and around the 29th of this month another very harsh aspect. For the next four or so years unfortunately these events may become more common. I am not good at it and can see it. Let's hope this is the end of the troubles...

I had a good talk with my aunt who is a nun this evening. She pointed out to me how young my parents were when they married, thus the cold manner of them both throughout my childhood and young adulthood. My breakdown was very similar to the famous actor is going through now, hypomania - the 'high' of being manic. It lasted 3 1/2 months for me ---- I was not abusing drugs at the time but was drinking heavily then. The 'high' is incredible, but thoughts are dissociative. Anyway, inevitably I came crashing down from it and the low was one of suicidal thoughts. Thankfully, I'm better with meds. One can probably expect the same outcome for anyone else with a similar problem. As far as my parents go my dad took me in while I was recovering from my breakdown, and my mom does talk to me though she and my younger sister who are nearby never visit. If my writing is very successful I will of course help them. I am 48 and am so independent - can't imagine being married with someone telling me what to do - so it has got to be tough for young teens to do, and they did it as well as they could...
