RESULTS

Keeping up motivation is key. Balance is key. Doing the right thing every fucking day is key. But in the end this journey is about accountability and results:

Month JUNE 2014:
BF% 43% -> 41.9%
MM% 25.5% -> 26%
weight 85.1 kilo -> 83.6 kilo

BF weight: 36.6 kilo -> 35.0 kilo (1.6 kilo loss) (*yeah*)
MM weight: 21.7 kilo -> 21.7 kilo (0 kilo gain) (*sob sob*)

Conclusions:

I have lost some weight, but not a lot. I have not gained musclemass. In short i have been more or less stagnant for a month which is (to say the least) disappointing.
Have i been slacking? I really dig deep in my soul.

EAT: I have been slacking a little on the eating department, I did keep an eye on my macro's but i could do with less food in general i think. I stopped keeping track of my micro's. i have been recording ALL food like i been doing. and the average included binging seems to even out at 1800 kcals a day for the past 4 months or so. i should try to get that number down to 1600...
WORKOUT: i have definitely NOT been slacking in the work-out department. I really don't understand why i have not gained masses of bulking muscles. Sure feels and looks like it in the mirror, and the weights are all up, and i am stronger for sure! I can only explain this with a cliche: It must be a measuring error. I have to believe this if i want to keep my motivation up. I have been working so hard in the gym! i have not missed a day!

I must say i am glad with the percentage BF loss (1.6 kilo FAT a month, would mean i am done in a years time), but i am disillusioned with the lack of muscle gain...

Motivational speech to myself:
* you can do 12 more push-ups in a row!
* you can pull 15 kilo more then last month
* you feel like you can handle any strain on your body at any time of the day
* you see a positive change in the mirror.
* you can jump higher then you expected.
* you keep up in the classes better and better.
* you are changing the scales will catch up eventually!
* can't tough this!!!

To tell you the truth, I have never trusted these BF and MM measurements - they are general ideas, could be only really measured by dissecting us, lol. We are all different. The best measurements for me are my scale, my favorite jeans (not stretchy :P) and the level of satisfaction when I look into a full-length mirror.

Agree with Aila on everything on the measurements and add one: how good you feel after working out!

You know that you have been working out diligently. If you are upping your weights, clearly your body can handle it, so your muscles are stronger/bigger. Who cares what some external measuring device says? Overall, the more lean muscle you have, the more efficient your metabolism is. This doesn't mean go ahead and eat whatever you want, but at least when you occasionally eat higher calories, your body burns it more efficiently. That is the main reason I want more muscle mass and I don't need someone to tell me HOW MUCH I have. Back before my back injury, I could eat just about whatever I wanted within reason and I didn't gain weight. That was all the proof I needed. In the 10 years since the injury, as I lost all that lovely, hard-won muscle, I have DEFINITELY learned how important it was!

Conclusions 1 You feel stronger. 2 Your able to do more than you did last year. 3 Your more energetic. 4. You are loosing body fat. 5 I'm jealous cause you are making progress and I can't even lose a half pound. From my end I don't see what you've got to be disappointed about. You've already lost an amazing amount and put on good muscle. Your having a three month vaca with your son, and you work from home. Plus you are an a gifted writer. enough said
