My name is John; I am 61 years old, husband, father of three, grandfather of five. I have probably lost the equivalent of my body weight over the years (and, of course, gained it all back). I can lose weight, but have historically been horrible at maintenance once I meet my goal weight. I first tried Atkins about 15 years ago; 10 years ago it was LA Weight Loss. I started my current weight loss effort using Weight Watchers in January of 2013, but switched over to calorie counting, as I found it easier (and more in line with the tools on this website). Using this website and increasing my activity has allowed me to lose over 40 lbs.

How do I change my start weight and date?
I found when I changed the "diet" I was following that the program changed my start weight and the date. I actually had to go in and manually enter a weight because I wanted to track my overall loss.

Hi from a new Scottish member.
Hello Lizzywylie - I found this site when I was 58 - an obese and out-of-shape grandpa. I've used the site for over two years, and while I'm still a few pounds overweight, I've dropped close to 60 pounds. I've also gone from no exercise to exercising four to five times a week. I attribute my success to the tools and the community on this site. I've found what Zenfreek says is very accurate - when I track my food and activity daily I lose or maintain my weight; however, when I get slack (especially around the holidays) I put the pounds back on. I like that thought, Bill. I have been thinking about that issue for some time - it motivated me to get on Ancestry.com and poke around the family tree. Lots of interesting finds there.
