My name is John; I am 62 years old, husband, father of three, grandfather of five. I have probably lost the equivalent of my body weight over the years (and, of course, gained it all back). I can lose weight, but have historically been horrible at maintenance once I meet my goal weight. I first tried Atkins about 15 years ago; 10 years ago it was LA Weight Loss. I started my current weight loss effort using Weight Watchers in January of 2013, but switched over to calorie counting, as I found it easier (and more in line with the tools on this website).

Hello to all from a newbie
Hi Deebles - welcome to the site! I have been using it since January 2013, mostly for calorie tracking. I did, however, link my Fitbit to the site to show calorie burn. Interestingly, I have gained weight since I did that. I don't think I can blame Fitbit for that; I have just seemed to fall off the wagon in the past six months.

Adding food items
I use the website more than the mobile app, so my response is geared to the website. When you enter a food to search, at the bottom of the list (below the border) you will see "+ Add New Food". If you click on that, it will walk you through the process of entering a new food.

How do I change my start weight and date?
I found when I changed the "diet" I was following that the program changed my start weight and the date. I actually had to go in and manually enter a weight because I wanted to track my overall loss.
