I just ate a hot dog at a lunch event, and I feel like I need a nap. I have not eaten any products with flour in a few weeks. I wonder if that is the cause of this feeling. No more hotdogs :)

I'm finding the same thing. If I venture off the bus (as opposed to fall) and eat something like a sandwitch, I feel rotten. I have done this several times and have come understand that it is just not worth the yuk feeling. I enjoy feeling good far to much.

big time insulin spike.. kicks you out of ketosis... low carb is a lifestyle change, for sure.

Clooney8493: I have always heard about this, but the first time I actually lived it. Makes sense, b/c I have stayed away from flour and sugars for 3 weeks, and I had not had that feeling in a while. Thanks for the comment and information!

Eating high levels of carbs, especially sugars, makes me feel much worse.

I suggest researching American wheat. It's scary what we've done to our food. My mom has a pretty severe gluten allergy so I decided to try gluten-free about a year ago. I dropped ten pounds in 2.5 weeks (not enough change in exercise to note it). Since then, I can feel and see a difference between when I'm careful and when I'm not. And yet, I've traveled out of the country and not had issues. And I don't suggest switching to gluten substitutes right away (GF pasta, bread, etc). Basically do a low-carb diet to see how your body reacts, and research GF products before you start trying them. There's a lot of additives that can make them as bad (but in a different way) as gluten.

Ooh, I know what you mean. Watch on YouTube how hotdogs are made. You'll never eat another one. I prefer other cuts of dog anyway... ;-)
