I am really getting discouraged by the lack of weight loss. I've been measuring, and my measurements have improved but I still have a huge belly and my thighs need to be much slimmer . .. . I don't know what to do to get to the next level? Anybody out there who is within 10% of their goal weight? I can't break the barrier!

Try going up to maintenance for a couple weeks then coming back down. Give yourself a mental food/diet break then come back at it fresh. You have been eating very low calories and your body may have adapted. Hit maintenance to let it get use to normal calories again and then go back down. At 164lbs my maintenance was 1700-1900 calories a day, but I don't know your height. Google 'freedieting calorie calculator', the top result should be the calorie calculator I prefer for accuracy. Use it to see what your maintenance should be. If you keep trying you will get there, you are doing great.

You look like you are right on target to me. You are now getting close to goal so a 1/2 to a pound a week is a very normal rate of loss. You are doing fine. Maybe you are putting your expectations too high and causing yourself stress. Weight loss is a marathon not a sprint (although don't we wish it would sprint off our bodies, lol!). A pound a week will stay take you to goal. You could try tightening up your diet. Upping the protein. Adding some interval training to your workout. Higher intensity burns more calories/fat. Do some googling and see where you can adjust your diet to help promote fat loss. Make some green iced tea (supposed to help). You can't spot reduce, just try to reduce body fat and firm up. You are doing great tulip, just keep on keeping on!

I don't know if it applies to you, but for me, I couldn't get rid of my puss gut until I kicked the grain habit. Seemed to go hand in hand.

Tulip, as you know I about halfway to my goal and my stomach is half the size it useful to be and it shrinks every week. I agree with cpmodem ... giving up wheat and white foods has made the difference for me as well. It's difficult to give them up at first but it is 100% worth it. After awhile, you won't crave it. If you are up to it, go cold turkey for 21 days. That will take care of the physical cravings. it will take a bit longer for the emotional addiction because so many triggers are out there. You can do this! It takes time, effort and focus. I know if I can do it ..... anyone can. Stay positive.

i agree with CalynLZ, perhaps take a diet break and eat the proper amount of calories per day to maintain your weight. and maybe some strengthening exercises to build muscle would help too. if you have a smartphone, download the Daily Ab Workout and Daily Leg Workout. they're free! good luck! you can do it!

I have not eaten grain products for many years but had a "pot belly" I finally decided to try giving up dairy just to see what happens, it was so hard I love cheese and yogurt, anyhow, to make a long story short I lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks, I still have about 10-15 to go. I still use butter but no other dairy. Every one is different so what works for me may not work for someone else. I do eat a fair amount of calories though I don't really even count them,I would guess it is between 2500-3500 calories a day so it is not low cal, just low carb and I would say high fat and some protein.

Thanks everyone! Sad to say or glad to say I am wheat gluten milk sugar free! I also don't eat potatoes or rice. I pretty much haven't eaten any grains, although I am not denying myself those yet. If I could figure out which ones work for me that would be good. I do have cottage cheese and yogurt and the occasional real cheese. Tops on my list of processed foods is Silk unsweetened almond milk. That's about it. I have lost 12 inches around my waist! But: my waist is a whopping 37" and my thighs oh my thy are still big at around 26"!!! I exercise with a trainer doing strength training twice a week and I do cardio 3-4x / week! I gained a few pounds over the holidays and it is proving very difficult to get them back off! Sigh.
