TXSnowman's Journal, 08 April 2014

I feel very good about where I am fitness-wise. I crossed into 2014 and began tax season right at 200 pounds. I set a goal to be between 190 & 200 through the end of the season. My sub-goal was to strive to be close to 190 at the end of the season.

So, here I am. Eight days (8 DAYS!) from the end of the season right at 190 lb. This is unprecedented territory here. I never maintain my weight during tax season. Forget about losing any. The long hours and stress have always been a crutch and an excuse for binge eating and no exercise, so that I always pile the pounds on.

NOT THIS TIME! NEVER AGAIN! I discovered that with concentration, effort, and all the great support I get from all of y'all, it's entirely possible to maintain an exercise regimen, eat healthy and eliminate excess stress throughout the busy season. In fact, they go together. Eating well makes me feel better, so I want to exercise more. Exercise lowers my stress. Lower stress means less binge/stress eating. Voila!

I hope you all have a wonderful day, and that the rest of your week goes great!

OMG! so happy for you TX - I remember joining FS and requesting to be your buddy - we started out with the same still to go weight to lose which was around 10kg. Me still at same level and you have made it - goes to say, where there's a will, there's a way and this journal is so true...I almost gave up this week when i turned up on Monday with a kilo extra but this has put my journey in perspective again and I have to give it all I've got for the next three months!

Thanks for all of the warm thoughts, everyone! The chickens are doing great, Neptune. The hens are well acclimated now and will follow you around the yard. We did have some bluebirds make a nest in a birdhouse out in the garden, but my wife found a big rat-snake (chicken snake) had climbed the pole and gotten into the nest and eaten the eggs. So she kept it from escaping the birdhouse until I could get the .22 to dispatch it. These snakes aren't poisonous, but they do grow to be about 6' long and love to eat eggs and chicks. So we do our best to keep their numbers down...lol.

I am so happy for you. I just read on the home page of FS that dieting with support increases chances of success by 3x. Since I started not only journaling but actually sharing and interacting with people on this site, I have been tremendously motivated. I can't wait to read what others wrote or experienced. I enjoy encouraging and sharing with others. It really is amazing how this thing works...friends in cyberspace who care and support. I would never have believed this....so my friend...you will succeed if you continue to support and receive support on this site. CONGRATULATIONS. WTG!
