sjkovalchuk's Journal, 01 April 2014

Hi!
I've been using fatsecret for a few years now, but this is my first shot at regularly keeping a journal and reaching out to others! (Bear with me as I stumble through this...) A lot of my weight gain is from mood-related eating, so I have lost it, gained it, lost it again, etc. Fluctuating about 15-20 pounds, I have tried pretty much everything (except bulimia). Paleo, Vegetarian, High protein, etc; and all the literature that goes along with it. Finally, I've figured out what works for me, fixed the beating I've given my metabolism, fixed the mood issues, and I'm ready to give it a more balanced effort!

Why? Pretty much the usual reasons. Mainly the self confidence, wearing what I like, recognizing my face, feeling physically strong again and "consciously" eating. Making it a lifestyle.

Again, I don't know how this journaling works...but I'm a fairly competitive person, especially when there's money involved (ha, ha) so if it's a "thing" that people read these journals and pay you to be successful fitness advertisements, sign me up! ;)

My current question:
Has it helped you stay on track with your weight loss if you weigh yourself daily, or better if done less often, like once a week? I'm leaning towards every day, remembering that small weight fluctuations will occur...and it sounds like it'd help keep eye on my goal! Any thoughts or experiences out there?

I have only been on this diet for two months, and it has definitely helped me to record a weight every day. I am kind of a nerd when it comes to numbers and stats, so it keeps me motivated to have it at the front of my mind. I am 29 ish pounds down, and counting. Good luck and stick with it. It is worth it.

Thanks for the input! Same here with the stats so I'll have to consider it. Great job sticking with it, glad it's working for you
