First weigh-in is tomorrow, ah! As a side note, spicing food well seems to be key; helps with feeling full, and makes meals not as "boring" until there's time to try new, healthier recipes.

Taco salads, chicken salads...But any suggestions on other ways to change up/season a salad? (Oh, and I'm trying to minimize my carb and sugar intake)

I like a really good balsamic vinegar on salads and cooked veggies. I've got a couple flavored ones that I use often. Yes, there are some carbs and sugars but I don't feel they're too bad. And the flavor is so rich that a little goes a long way.

Had no idea about the flavored option! Can't wait to look into that

Have you tried adding roasted vegetables?

My favorite balsamics right now are a fig one and an apple one. I see them sold at large farmers markets mostly. If you're looking though, I have a vendor that I've purchased from online. A little drizzle goes a very long way!

Aman_da: Roasted vegetables on a salad? I'll admit, never even tried roasted vegetables, unless it's with a pork roast...will have to look up a good recipe. Vickie, could I have the vendor info? I'll look locally first, but just in case...

Definitely! Herbs and Spices (esp. fresh) give such life to vegetables! Keep a bottle of dried Italian Seasoning blend on-hand at all times! :D

Black pepper is healthy for you, and if you use it with Curcumin (turmeric) and Cinnamon, it makes the turmeric and cinnamon more effective. Google these words: black pepper, piperine, NaturalNews
