Kathy Vanish's Journal, 12 March 2014

To bring everyone up to date. I did my weigh in last night, probably not the best time as I was sick Monday night into Tuesday and the scale went up 2 pounds. This is a little confusing to me and I am not going to put much stock in the number. Yesterday, my husband told me first thing in the morning that I looked thinner (ladies are sticking out farther than anything else) and the other day he noticed my butt looked smaller (now he can't keep his hands off of it). I have noticed my thighs no longer rub together and my arms are starting to show definition. So that 2 pounds I am hoping is the extra weight training I have been doing to tone up and pull my muscles in tight.

I actually upped my weights from 8 lbs and 4 lbs to 10 lbs and 6 lbs for my exercise DVD's. I am running 10.5 miles in less than an hour on my elliptical and am starting to notice that I am not as fatigued after a workout as I used to be. I even threw in a few walks with the family this week. Have to train the puppy to walk on a lease so I can take him running and hiking with me.

This is the first time the scale has gone up that didn't depress me because I have come to realize that it has no power. I am truly happy, I am noticing progress in fitness level and body shape, I have found that exercise and yoga are lowering my stress level to the point that I have stopped biting my nails (I actually used nail art last night), and have found peace within myself when dealing with my family. My hormones may be screwed up and battling me to show loss on the scale, but this is a battle I can win!!!

Keep exercising everyone. It not only helps with calorie burn and weight loss, but it is the only prescription for depression and anxiety that doesn't come with bad side effects (sore muscles will go away). I have also found it gives me more energy, I sleep better, and feel better about myself. Give it try out there, what do you have to lose?

Yea, you can't trust the scale when you are sick. If you weighed a different time than you normally do, then the scale will be different too. Just stay on plan and stay hydrated and you will be fine.

Good job Kathy! I'm also not going crazy on the weigh-ins but my tummy is going in and i can actually feel tight on the abs which is a great feeling! we may not be noticing the small differences but being less fatigued and feeling toned is very motivating!

You got that right Jenfar. I am glad you are seeing results too! We can do this! Maybe it's time that the scale becomes a back seat to getting healthy.
