Twenty four years ago today my husband gave me the best birthday present ever! He gave me my one and only son. Yep...I became a Mom for the first time on my birthday! He hasn't tried to come up with an equal gift since. Nothing could top that anyway. So yesterday I went and bought a couple new sweaters for myself and told him he has awesome taste! Then my adult son got underwear and socks for his birthday! Since I do his laundry I knew that is what he needed more than anything else! My youngest daughter thought it was the worst birthday present ever... So tonight the fam is all headed off to different events and I will be alone. I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me will enjoy not having to take care of anyone else...the rest of me is sad that they don't feel that they need to be with me. Guess it is what I have to look forward to in the years to come. Means that there won't be much chance that we will all eat birthday cake together...

Happy birthday to you both! Mixed blessing on sharing a birthday with you eldest, lol, I'm guessing. I can't come close, but my husband and I's wedding anniversary was very close to my youngest child's birthday, so we had to be careful about taking any trips, etc. Then, my eldest got married just three week's after us in April, so the anniversary emphasis is touchy. They want us to babysit for them so they can go places, but nothing much happens for ours :-( I can sympathize, though. This is the first birthday I can think of (back in January) where NO ONE did anything with me at all on my actual birthday. I worked, my husband worked, my middle child is in Sweden studying abroad, and the other two had plans. Sometimes that's just the way things roll out, I guess.

Travis's first birthday was my golden birthday. Guess who got the special birthday? Yes it is a mixed blessing. I never want to demand that I am more important than him, so I try to keep a low profile (except with my hubby, he is still expected to treat me special that day!) Tonight Dave and Travis are going to a college hockey game that they both wanted to see together. My middle child is away at college. My youngest is going to be with her team at a basketball game. I won't go to that because I try not to go to the away games. It is also my bosses birthday! Talk about everyone being born on the same day...My boss is gone in California on a trip with his wife. I will try to enjoy the time I have alone and do what I want to do...

Happy birthday. I share my birthday with my sister. Also the end of February. She was a present on my 8th birthday. Always an interesting day with two family birthdays on the same day.
