Kathy Vanish's Journal, 20 February 2014

This month is going okay.

I have had a few small wins. My tightest pair of jeans are loose during my period. I might actually need the new belt I bought last year by the end of the month.

And I went to the Chinese Buffet with my mother in law on Monday. Usually, I will go up one to three times. This time I walked the whole buffet, choose what I wanted and took smaller portions so it all fit on one plate without layering. This way I didn't deprive myself of something I love as I only go out for Chinese maybe 4 times a year, but I didn't blow it as bad as I could have. Then I didn't go back up and left feeling full, but not stuffed. I know it is a small thing, but to me it was a great jump in controlling the food and not letting the food control me.

On the first week of March, I have to teach my first set of courses. I have to Tues through Friday and won't get exercise, however, since it is at a hotel and I usually get between 1 and 2 hours for lunch between courses I thought maybe taking advantage of the exercise room. I saw some sport wipes in Walmart if you can't take a shower and thought I would give them a try.

Has anyone tried these wipes and do they work. I have to look professional for my afternoon course and can't smell.

You're doing great! Try the wipes when you workout at home and see if they work. I've never seen anything like that, other than just baby wipes. Sounds like you have a good plan for when you're gone though.

Now I just need the guts to give it a try and not just fall back onto reading the book because of the extra work it will take.

Kathy--you made my day with your post about the Chinese buffet. I would go up one to three times also--and layer. My hubby would always say something about "layering" to me. He told me to put less on my plate and go up again. I think taking advantage of the exercise room is great. I've never used the sport's wipes, but I would think they would work in the "right" areas--LOL. A little bit of body spray (not perfume) after and you'll be set. I'm actually thinking of going to the gym this weekend. I'm scared, but I'm thinking of it! I am the type of person that when I am afraid like this, I hate it and I jump in and do it--LOL. I hate anything holding me back and making me feel like this, so I close my eyes and do it--LOL. If time permits (no snow, no emergencies with Mom, etc.), I am going to the gym. I don't care what I look like. I'll wear hubbies sweats, a tee, my Ipod--and work it--haha.

The problem is that I sweat so much that I will need to take and reapply my makeup ect. And when it comes to being girly I get lazy. I like putting in on in the morning before teaching and be done with it. That's an excuse isn't it!

Kathy, I find plain, unscented baby wipes are a tolerable shower substitute when time is of the essence. If you have two hours, you might be able to fit in a short workout and a real shower. Do you have a shower cap?

I don't have access to a shower since the exercise room is in a hotel and I am renting the meeting room and not a hotel room. I found some sport wipes that help cool the body and leave a refreshing scent in Walmart today and am going to try them this week at home to see if they work and make sure I don't get hives (has happened before and I would hate to start itching my hinny while I am teaching a room full of guys). I would put LOL! but it is not really that funny. I will let you guys know how well they work or if I chicken out.
