Rowanfair's Journal, 17 January 2011

I dragged my headachy, lethargic self into work today. Wednesday is my last day of antibiotics so hopefully the end of the two week long headache is in sight. Being late (and out of it) I didn't think about Monday=best pastry in the region day. The smell of baked goods hit me as I got my coffee. Wah! Rugalach! Cinnamon bread! Almond croissants. *sigh* Cinnamon rugalach are my weakness.

It isn't even that I am hungry... I ate breakfast. But that sweet yeasty smell is all about comfort and well, it is from Martha's Pastries which *is* the best bakery ever.

Luckily I have some almonds in my office and I will have them for a snack. But I had gotten good at not entering the break room on Monday mornings and this morning I just forgot. I really want my health and brain back.

I feel for you, you just can't seem to shake this bug. Have you ever thought to have your air quality tested in your living quarters? Maybe the problem isn't the same infection, but constant exposure to an irritant that is causing the problems.

Hope you are feeling better today. I do know that I have a hard time to break old habits along with deprograming from all the smells that I grew up with. So I know where you are coming from when we smell all the bad stuff we grew up loving. Hang in there and great idea about the almonds there at work. Hope it works for you. Have a great day.:)

Thanks Mammasix, I think the sinus infection may actually be getting better... but the side effects of clarithyromicin are harsh. Our house is fine, I think, but that is an interesting suggestion. Thanks Laura, it is so hard sometimes when those childhood triggers jump up. And really, I have worked at the same office for almost 20 years and didn't eat breakfast on Mondays so I could fit in a pastry. They are perhaps the hardest challenge that I regularly face. One rugalach is so small. *grin* But so far I have triumphed over pastries.
