Week 2 of the new year! I am so proud of myself today. Yesterday I did it! I ate only my allotted points, I drank 120 ounces of water, I didn't have any soda, I didn't snack after 8:00 pm, I had 4 servings of veggies, I ate a little extra protein and less carbs, and I did 40 mins of zumba. I am going to do it again today, except I am going to do 45 min dvd aerobics with ab toning and 30 to 45 mins of intervals on the elliptical.

I plotted out a plan for running and preparing for the 5K I want to enter in May and I need to start logging miles the week of March 24th if I am to prepare in 8 weeks. With winter I am exercising inside so I am running the days I would run outside inside on the elliptical and logging the mileage. I am hoping that this will prepare me for the first run in March. I am also toning and doing other types of exercise to stay well rounded and keep my body from becoming to use to one type of exercise.

Today with the weather, I am hoping that exercising will warm up my rear!

yesssss!just because you cannot run outside, doesn't mean you cannot train inside. Prepare your quads with lunges and squats...and remember to incorporate a good stretch routine at the end...learn it by heart so when you do make it to the road you can finish off with it, to prepare your legs for the next run! Go, go go!

Yesterday, I did just that. I did 45 mins of total body toning, legs included, then 30 mins of intervals on the elliptical in which I ran forward and backward to work all of the muscles in my legs and finished off with 30 mins of yoga stretches designed specifically for athletes and runners. It was a wonderful workout and I felt great afterward. I got a running program off and it said to run Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so I am trying to do elliptical runs on these days that way my body and mind will be ready in March when I move it out unto the road. Thanks for the support Jen, I couldn't do it with out you.

You should also try to get Danny Dreyer's Chi Running. It's a very good instructional book, a reference book, specifically for running. Once you practice it, I assure you, you will want to train for marathons - I did! It's a very good book....mine is all marked with post it notes for easy referencing! What to eat, shoes, training for races, warming up and cooling down. You will not regret it!
