Good Monday morning buddies.

Another day, another opportunity to shine. It is warm for around here ... 40's and rain. Everything is sort of a mess. For those of you who live in snow country you can relate ... rain on top of snow is not a good thing unless it is time for the Spring thaw!! It is a little early for that ... LOL!!

Last week my back on track efforts were not very successful. However, I did exercise regularly and that is positive. Today is yet another opportunity though and I will simply keep my head held high and carry on.

I'll be celebrating 2 years on Fat Secret come January 18th. I'd like to be back in my range by then which I think is probably doable ... although I have no clue how much I weigh right now. Given my state of mind as of late ... and I know me ... I'm just not ready to face that music. Maybe I'm being foolish.

Time to respond to emails, catch up on a few pieces of paperwork and face the day. But first ... gratefulness

1. an enjoyable weekend
2. my mother's 71st birthday yesterday
3. friendly chastisement
4. clean sheets
5. hot coffee

I'm looking forward to feeling my clothes get loose again. I'm looking forward to feeling better. I'm a little flabbergasted that I have slipped into such a non-kind frame of mind towards myself so quickly. I do know how powerful being kind to myself can be. I'll continue to practice that kindness ... and it will bring me back into balance. Have a good one.

Carol, you sound like you are feeling "kinder" toward yourself, and that makes me happy. Great job with the exercise, and with being able to understand your feelings and act (or not) on them. I am quite sure that you will get back in your range by January....you are strong, smart, beautiful, and determined....and that is a winning combination! Hope that your week is awesome! I agree with all the things on your grateful list....my mom's 73rd is in March, and dad just had his 83rd! They are a true blessing!

Hi Carol, I am glad you weren't put off by my friendly chastisement the other day. I wasn't sure I should post it, but that's what friends are for, not just "nice good job" right? I think you should weigh in. This is just my opinion, of course you know what's best for yourself and your state of mind, but from my own experience, I feel that facing issues head on is best. Whether you weigh in or not, your weight is the same. It could be worse than you think or it could be better. But the only way to know for sure is to get on the scale. I think that whether you post it or not, you owe it to yourself to give yourself all the facts. Your clothes will be loose again- when you choose it. But it won't happen unless you make it happen. I hope this doesn't come across as harsh or pushy, but you have to get your head out of the sand if you're going to turn it around. - in kindness, your friend, Kate

No one can be perfect all the time, so don't be to upset with yourself. Its the holiday season, and for whatever reason, once you hit a certain age, this time of year actually starts bringing most people down. Just remember that your buddies are all here for you, here and on FB. You know you can send me a PM anytime lady!!

Kate ... no I was not put off by it at all. I think you are probably right about weighing in ... I'm mostly waiting for my head and heart to be ready to face it ... and I have not been ready. I know myself too well ... in the frame of mind I've been in I would use it to beat up on myself ... so I'm trying to get my mind right so my ass will follow!! Kate ... don't ever hesistate to say what you think with me. I may not agree but I value frankness, I value you. Sarah ... I know you are there and I so appreciate it. I'm working at NOT being upset with myself and instead being good to myself so I can carry on!!!

Hi Moose, I hope you just get on the scale. Realize you, your attitude, your decisions define who you are, not that number. That number simply tells you what you are today and if its not where you want to be it helps you decide its time to do it. Its the holidays, now more than ever we deserve kindness and eachother and I miss it here! don't you? lol not sure what your state of mind is of late, but I hope you are shining your fullest everyday :)

Hi Carol ~ I just read what everyone wrote you. We all have our days, whether it's just one day that's rough or one month that's rough. Our reserve slips now and again. FACING the problem is 3/4 of the battle and knowing what we need to do and acknowledging it. But the hardest part unfortunately is putting that remaining 1/4 into action. This time of year with all the sweets and calorie ridden foods around, it is DAMN hard. We all love these foods and we all fail sometimes to "walk away". I have always been the most successful at weight loss when my MIND was ready. If my mind isn't ready, I cannot lose weight. It will strike you one of these days, and your MIND will be ready. Then and only then will you succeed getting back on track. I think if you just give a "small" effort, and a little exercise, it will prepare you for the big change. Maybe we all need a "goal" and that could be our New Year's Resolution. That's not to say we pig out until then, but not stress quite so much, and give it "some" effort. This is what I am doing now, as there has been some sort of food issue every week. So I try some, fail a bit, and try some more. So far, so good. Being good to yourself also means eating as healthy as possible so you won't get sick. Enjoy the week Carol, be as good to yourself as possible, but give it the ole college try! :-)
