I think diet soda and nuts need to stay out of my diet for the time being. During the first 2 weeks when I lost the most significant wieght I was not consuming either of these things, then last week I felt like things were slowing down after adding them in...

Thanks Restless! I was teetering back and forth in my mind as to if I should or should not to move on into OWL or stay on Induction for a while longer. So I tried a few items that I was really missing (nuts & diet soda) only to discover they are definitely going to slow things down for me! I was also reading on the Atkins site that I shouldn't stay on Induction longer than 2 weeks because you need to move through all the phass in order to learn what works/stalls you, but then I read somewhere else on the site that you can stay on Induction longer if you have a lot to loose. So, I am still trying to figue out what I should do...

Amy, I was on induction for 9 months, just moved up to OWL, as a matter of fact. I don't eat that many more carbs.....have a hard time getting them up, but did add in some foods that I was missing on induction. I follow "old school" Atkins, which is total carbs, and use the original Atkins book. Diet soda is okay as long as you don't go overboard and remember to count them as one of your 3 allowed sweetners a day!

And you lost 4 pounds in the last week, that is really a good loss for a week. The loss is going to slow down, and you will not keep losing at the rate you lost the first week, since a lot of it is water weight. 2 pounds a week is pretty average, and a nice steady, HEALTHY weight!!

Ctlss-sometimes I need a reminder that this fat is not going to just melt away super fast because I want it too! Just because I am feeling impatient, I am dismissing the important fact that I am still losing, and you just snapped me back to reality - THANK YOU! Also, I just realized that I have NEVER had only 3 servings of sweetener - I just marked a note on my food list and highlighted it. After reading your note, I vaguely remembered reading that so I went back and checked the Atkins site. It was in the "how to" section, but not noted on the "food list" which is my daily "go to guide" when picking my meals for the day. Thanks again - and if you see me miss-stepping again, please feel free to call me on it! = )
