Sandy701's Journal, 10 September 2013

Our mornings have been getting just a bit cooler, so walking is more enjoyable. Still....after going nearly 2 miles with the doggies today, I opted to swim laps for 15 minutes rather than going out for more mileage. Still trying to take advantage of the pool while I can.

Multiple church activities on Sunday, thrift shop on Monday, an extra need at the church office today and thrift shop again tomorrow....all are keeping me busy.

One of the activities on Sunday was a luncheon at which DH and 3 other guys were singing. I was invited to be present so I could hear him. Of course, we ended up getting invited to the luncheon, as well. I had a piece of fried chicken and got rid of the skin and breading, ignored the baked beans and rolls, and had about a quarter cup of cole slaw. Fortunately, it was fairly dry and also not at all sweet, so I doubt there was too much damage there.

But then a serving guy brought out the dessert (large brownie with whipped cream) and went to place a serving in front of me. Last minute decision, I quickly motioned "no" and said, "None for me, thank you." YAY for me, right? Well.......this guy, who was kidding around, said in a large, loud, booming voice, "What? No thank you?"

AAARRRRGGGGHHH! How embarrassing! I was trying SO hard to be careful of my foods. I couldn't afford to add a sugar-laden dessert like that. I had even bypassed a celebratory piece of cake that was being handed out to everyone at the end of the church service, too. Oh well, I survived not eating the brownie and cake and have lived to tell the tale.

DH and I headed out to Lowe's yesterday...believe it or not, it was a nice little trip. He and I rarely shop for anything together these days due to his schedule, so even a mundane trip like Lowe's was an unexpected treat. He found what he needed and I bought flowers to replace the dead ones in the front of the house. Now, I just need the time (when I have the energy - LOL!) to get them planted.

My sister is coping. She's better than she was 2 weeks ago, but I think she could still go too close to the edge. The meds she got last week seem to be working and she has her therapist appointment later this week.

Nearly needed a new scale as mine almost got thrown through a window this weekend. I'm SO close to the 140's....just right out there on my fingertips but can't quite reach it no matter how I contort myself. At least that's the way it seems. I was CERTAIN I was going to see it Monday morning, but, instead, it seems my body's metabolism just took the overnight hours off. Hey! Wake up! I'm trying to lose some weight, here!

So, I'm spending yet a few MORE days in the 150's.....harumpffff. I can take some consolation in the fact that 150 is at the very limit of my 5-pound Maintenance weight range....and it's still a "normal" BMI for me. But I want the 140's and I want my blue line back!!! (Oh no, I'm not number-obsessed - LOL!).

Maybe tomorrow.....
