This may be a really silly question but...here goes anyway. :)

I have always known that organic food was better for you. I thought that was because it didn’t contain preservatives, hormones, etc. I have noticed recently it appears to also be lower in calories, fat, carbs, etc. I’d like to know if anyone else has found the same thing or is this just a happenstance and relates to the few things I’ve tried.

Here’s my example…or light bulb moment.

Trader Joe’s Organic Roast Beef -
3oz serving;
Calories – 90; Fat – 2; Carbs – 0; Fiber – 0

Regular Roast Beef (similar cut) – 3 oz serving;
Calories – 177; Fat – 9.4; Carbs – 0; Fiber – 0

I have read the book "Empty Harvest" and it talks about how organic vegetables have more vitamins and nutrients than their non-organic counterparts because organic fertilizer has all the micro-nutrients that plants (and our bodies) need to fully thrive. There is such a discrepancy of nutritional content in food depending on where it is grown and what fertilizer is used that you would be amazed. For instance, we eat Oranges from one part of the country and they may have 300% your RDA for vitamin C and you could get the same type of orange from another part of the country that has NONE. That goes for meat products too because cows that are fed on pasture have significantly less saturated fat than non-grass-fed cows because they need the chlorophyll from the grass to be the healthiest and to thrive. Cows fed only grain are not thriving (that is why they have to be pumped full of antibiotics and hormones). Also, grass-fed beef contains CLA which is a component (not found at all in grain-fed cows) that helps reduce our cholesterol. Message me if you want sources. I got lots of them. :)

Sara - I had a feeling you would have good info. Thanks! I just feel lucky that I have a Trader Joe's so close to my home.

I LOVE Trader Joe's. I have to drive an hour to the nearest one, though. :( I make sure to stock up when I go and I bring a cooler.

I worked in an all natural food store for several years and noticed this, as well. It is exactly what Sara says it is. The products are produced healthier so what you get is a healthier product.
