Goal Weight:259.0 lb
following: Atkins
performance: losing 0.7 lb a week

I've been heavy all my life and started my first diet when I was 17 years old. It seems that was the kicking off point for a life of diet, splurge, diet, splurge. Each time having minor success followed by big gains. Sound familiar anyone?

Here I am 16 years later bigger than ever. But now....my knees are going bad. About 8 months ago I began to notice stiffness and pain when I climbed stairs. By the time I eventually made it to the doctor, I was severely limping and in a lot of pain. The doctor had no sympathy and simply said "lose the weight or replace the knee - your call."

While I would have appreciated a pat on the hand…something…the very blunt delivery was probably the best thing I could have ever heard. I finally realized I have to get serious about this....my weight was effecting my mobility.

I am closely following Atkins and having good success. I've lost enough that I don't limp and I can go up stairs really well. I still have stiffness, but nothing like what I experienced before dropping the first 20 pounds. Now I've got to lose the rest of it.

I’m hoping to connect with others following low-carb diets for support and suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you.

UPDATE: Picture was taken on 9/21/08 - weight 290.2

Zero Carb Noodles!
Paige - thank you so much for giving us your opinion. I've been considering purchasing Mircle Noodles for a few days now (since I read about them here). I'll get mine ordered tonight. I can't wait to have spaghetti again Smile.

Anyone have a recommendation for low carb spaghetti sauce?

Changing the date of a posted weight
Hi Everyone -

I joined fatsecret on June 16. When I recorded my weight, I mis read and entered my starting weight...not current weight for that day. I would like to correct this...any suggestions on HOW I do that? I need to either delete the entry or change the date on the entry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"so called" Carb Free Drinks
Has anyone tried the drinks (lemonade, etc) that are being labeled as carb free? They are sweetened with Splenda and taste great. The most common brand is Fruit Refreshers. There are generics as well.

If so, do you count carbs for the drink anyway? I wonder because according to my Atkins book, I should count 1 packet of Splenda as 1 carb...and not exceed 2 per day. So, how can these drinks really be carb free if they have Splenda.

I'd really like to hear how others are counting these drinks. Thanks.
