I made my first ever cherry pie tonight. Now I know I shouldn't be eating cherry pie, but we grew these cherries so it is a treat, because these are the first ever cherries off our tree. =) A few things I learned:
1) Cherry pits can fly far.
2) On average 34 cherries equals 1 cup.
3) Cherries stain the counter and everything red, except your hands they turn black.
4) A cherry pitter is your friend but it will still give you a bruise. However you may not be able to see it under the black stain from the cherries.
