Olney Falcon's Journal, 22 September 2010

Had a little bit of a setback, and am up 12 pounds since my low about 3 years ago. Currently I am 'Doing Atkins' occasionaly for periods of 2 weeks or 8 weeks, and of course, having success with it. The problem is that when I go off of Atkins I allow myself unlimited quantities of fruits and vegetables, and I'm actually eating too much and gaining weight doing that. Very discouraging to be getting fat on sweet potatoes, spinach and apples, but it's the truth.

The plan now is to find out how many calories per ounce all these things are, weigh them, and keep track daily of the calorie intake in the hope of keeping the number under 2500. I have no trouble at all on Atkins staying under 2200 calories a day. I get a fair amount of exercise - at least 3 miles a day on the treadmill, and some resistance work, but not as much as it should be.

Going to try to keep after this journal for a while. There is no plan in the future to "Do Atkins" right now, anyway, but I could see me doing two weeks in October - just don't think I can do an 8 weeker until after the new year...

Hi I agree Atkins works only while you stick strickly to it but if you start eating normally immediately you start to put on weight. Good Luck I think your journal will help

You can gain weight from almost anything if it has calories. Keeping track in a good thing.
