Sandy701's Journal, 21 March 2013

Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that spring lasts BEYOND the first day of spring! Rather chilly overnight - nearly freezing - and windy and chilly this AM. But my Lab gal decided she wanted a dip in the pool after playing around anyway! Silly, silly girl. She didn't stay in the water very long, though, as the water temp is probably still in the 50's! After drying her the best I could, she went for only part of a walk because I didn't want her to get over-chilled, since she still had wet fur in places. Collie guy, however, did the full 3.1-mile route with me.

Today I was SO close to dropping that next pound, but no matter how I stepped on the scale, I couldn't get there (holding myself up on the counter edge doesn't count - LOL!). With any luck.....maybe tomorrow. And that's (hopefully) all the encouragement I need to keep me on my program today. This is the "inching" I wrote about yesterday.

Household stuff today and then a whole slew of errands and shopping tomorrow.

Bren, she jumped in after she and my Collie guy had a wonderful game of run-around in the back yard, so I suppose she felt a bit warm. I let her back into the pool enclosure so the Collie could do his business before our walk. Had I left her out in the yard with him, they might STILL be playing and our walk would never get done! LOL! I was out in the yard encouraging the guy to do his thing when I heard this big splash! I knew she had gone in...there are some nice steps that she uses to get in and then there's an adjoining ledge that keeps her in about chest-deep water. She DOES know how to swim and can swim laps with me, but she usually won't do that unless I'm in the water with her (NO chance of that for awhile!).

Oh boy...sounds like both your doggies had a grand time, they do liven things up considerably don't they. I saw a cartoon about wonder woman standing on the scale with the shadow behind her whose toe was pressing on the scale...I immediately thought of the scale monster who does the same to me, I swear, really. Well, maybe we all have one? Scale monster that is. Hope you shake loose from yours soon!!

Bren, I'm looking forward to the time when I can at least turn on the heater and get in the pool for a bit. The overnight temps need to warm up a bit, though, before that becomes worth the expense of the electricity. Both dogs went in last weekend too.....after another rousing game in the backyard. That time, my Collie, who's usually a real lounge hound in the 9"-10" shallow sun shelf, began to lie down in the water but immediately popped back up as that cold water hit his tummy. He jumped out as if to say, "Maybe later..." ! LOL!

GG....we call their game the "I'm gonna kill you sucka" game! They are so ferocious, but who can take it seriously when every move begins with a play bow? And, just as quickly as they begin to play, they decide that's enough for now and they go back to regular behavior. Very, very funny....they always bring a smile to my face. Having 2 dogs is SO different from having just 1.

Laurie, I did have fun the other day seeing just how much I could affect my weight by pressing against the counter. With hardly any pressure on my hands at all (or so it seemed) I dropped over 5 pounds! I was amazed that so little pressure could make that much difference. Then, of course, I had fun getting myself into the 130's....just for fun....to see what that number on the scale really looked like. But then, it was back to reality....no counter help! With 50 degrees, it must seem like a tropical heat wave after all the snow and crud you've had this winter. Enjoy the day and don't get sunburned!!! LOL!
