Sandy701's Journal, 20 March 2013

Dangerous couple of days for me, but so far, so good.

I generally can last about a week or two being very strict on plan without a nice drop in weight, usually "just" a pound. Before the pound drops, I expect to see some general movement downward most mornings(tenths of a pound). That's just the way my body works when I'm doing what I should and this WOE is working as it should (according to my own body). When I work the plan correctly and I don't see the downward inching I believe I OUGHT to see along the way, watch out....that's when I begin to eye the peanuts, the peanut butter, etc. Of course that stuff will only set me back even further, but that fact is pushed out of my brain in the moment.

I tell myself I just dropped 3 days ago so it's premature to expect anything additional, even a slight decrease. But we all know how the mind works....

Of course, I want to be back at my goal weight - YESTERDAY! And, I have the devil of a time convincing myself that this will happen.....just be patient.....the pounds come off more slowly than they can come on.....stay the course.....don't deviate.

As soon as I see some inching in my AM weigh-ins, it will be easier to rely on patience and stay the course. BUT IN THE MEANTIME....I'm walking a tightrope here. Both peanuts and peanut butter have called out to me, but I've done the "Walk AWAY from the (whatever)...." mantra.

Some days, it's just harder than others.....as most of you know.

Yeah, Sandy. Definitely breath. I think I'd walk away from the scale for a week and then come back for the great surprise. You're doing great, girl! Keep on doing great. Peanuts? High fat, not terrible carbs, little high in calories but fat is good, right?

I hear you, patience is a virtue I don't possess. Congrats on a fine job so far. 3 days of walking away from stuff is very, very good.

Bren, your breakthrough has been awesome to watch! And, you're right....it WILL happen. Just this AM, I saw that inching I was looking for, so that gives me great hope to use for today. Have a great day.

Amanda, thanks for the compliment. I just thought that Maintenance would be a breeze.....and it's NOT! Got to work just as hard as I did on the way down the first time. As soon as I get that through my head, I can focus the way I should. Enjoy your day.

Jaime, this IS a process, isn't it? Just when we think we've got it all under control.....well....like Jello, it slips out somewhere else!

Heather, for being such a good food, peanuts and the various nut butters can really do me in. Sadly, I can eat the better part of a jar like it's nothing, once I get started. Then, it's not such a good food anymore - LOL!

Issy, thanks for that thought. Walking away is something I need more practice with. Generally, I try to keep really tempting stuff out of the house completely, but DH has PB and he's lucky to be able to use it in moderation.
