jenrose82's Journal, 06 August 2010

Ok, so I did some quick research online and ended up buying a new scale from Dick's Sporting Goods. I got the Homedics Healthstation. I think it was about $40 which seemed reasonable compared to similar items I found online.

When I finally got home, I checked my weight on my old scale, and it had actually gone down .6 lbs from this morning, CRAZY! I wrote it down in my paper journal but I'm not changing my weight on here. It's just a fluctuation... but the interesting thing is that my new scale read exactly the weight that my old scale had this morning, which is the real reason I'm not changing anything online. I'm excited that they're reading so similarly! After I checked my weight on the new scale, and then back on the old scale, it was only .2 lbs apart (darned random fluctuations!)

The bad news is, since it measures my body fat percentage and my water weight percentage, now I know how truly fat I am. :( About 50% to be exact. About 40% water too. I guess that means I'm only 10% muscle & bone? Weird. I guess muscle and fat are composed of water so that's probably not the case. I'm curious to start keeping track of the body fat and water percentages. The other bad news is I created a challenge on here to NOT weigh myself daily... I was going to try to go for 2 weeks with only weighing once a week. So on Sunday I'll have to either put away the scale, or promise myself not to look if I have my husband write down the numbers for me (just so I can keep track!) Since he leaves the house before I get out of bed on most days, I'll either have to start weighing before bed, or just waking up earlier. Either one doesn't sound too appealing to me... but I guess I'll still know how I'm changing after a little while.

In other news, the "brownies" that I made last night using Medifast oatmeal, shakes, pudding, and a couple of other things, turned out kinda gross. Not quite gross enough to throw out, since the stuff is expensive and I'm pretty cheap, but I'll definitely NOT use that recipe again! I don't know why I thought it even sounded good, but it still very much tastes like the oatmeal. The worst part is, I've gotten to really like the shakes and the pudding is decent too. Oh well. I guess in just over a week I'll be placing my second order and I can just make sure not to get the oatmeal again. Why did I have to order 3 boxes of the stuff? Ugh.

Yea I never made pancakes or brownies out of the oatmeal...its just gross...I'd rather just buy the brownies and pancakes they already make.

I need to figure out something to do with the oatmeal that I got though... there's got to be some way to doctor it up so it doesn't taste so bad. I swear if I see another recipe calling for the oatmeal with cinnamon and vanilla extract i'm going to PUKE! Blech!
