I think I've asked before - but have you heard of the Tough Mudder? Or other various obstacle races? With your workouts I'd think you'd be good at them :)

i think those obstacle course competitions, crossfit/ironman competitions are awesome ... and are a true test of strength, speed and endurance ... unlike weight lifting competitions, which simply test strength. while i do think a tough mudder type race would be cool ... i primarily do the workouts i do because i am trying to shed fat and believe in normal body movements ... i use to do immense amounts of isolated weight training ... now i hardly push/pull heavy weights ... mostly just one armed/one legged, balanced activity with light weights ... helps me feel normal, keeps my joints from aching ... and hopefully will one day lead me back to 10 - 12% BF ... who knows, maybe when i get to 150 and stay there, i will look for a challenge like tough mudders ... until then ... i will keep on trying to bust my belly fat through these workouts.

I'm guessing that when you take tests, you like to get 110%?

When I was younger and started swimming competitively I didn't race for about a year (a reeeeaaaally long time considering meets were scheduled every 2 - 3 weeks) - because I didn't want to lose. But I found as I got older that doing the meets and the competitions were training in themselves, and they also helped me learn more about how to train more effectively. I guess I'm kinda wondering if maybe signing up for one of these events before you think you're ready (which I bet you are) will a) help push you towards your physical goal and b) give you some new respect for how far you've come and c) provide you with some different whole-body moves that (again) might help you towards your goal. But then - I just really like competing :D

aha --- i get it --- i had never thought of entering a competition like a mudder event --- and you are probably right, if i did, maybe i would push harder, etc. but you think i am thinking i need to over prepared, a la boy scout .... nah .... since i had never had the thought of entering something like this, i don't consider my workouts training for anything besides getting better at golf and losing fat ... i am ultra competitive ... and would push hard as hell if i did try one of these events ... but for now, i just push hard as hell to get this fat off my body and play some golf. you have given me something to think about, though ...
