DairyKing's Journal, 07 February 2013

A rainy and dreary morning, but the good news is that it's supposed to get up in the 40's today, and pretty much be in the 40's for another week. That's good, because I leave early Sunday morning to get the truck. I had to stop at the hospital and visit a friend after work yesterday. He's in his 70's, a pretty brittle diabetic, and suffing from Congestive Heart Failure. However, he's doing fairly good, and should be going home today. After supper and feeding the big dogs, I did my treadmill workout for about 40 minutes. I still had some time left before bed, so I soldered the trailer brake controller wires to my truck adapter. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to install it tonight.

DW was wanting to know what to have for supper, since I was going to be a bit late anyway. I just told her the leftover spaghetti sounded good to me. I could say that every day! And it was good. Too good! But that's all I ate - no bread, or salad with dressing or anything. I have to weigh in tomorrow, and I didn't want to completely sabotage this week. I've been watching my weight, and pretty well holding my own; there's even a chance I'll have a slight drop. Considering last week was Super Bowl Sunday, I'm ecstatic.

The recycled concrete sits in a 15 ton pile at home, and the ruts in the parking area are terrible. Tonight, recycled concrete might have to be introduced to the parking area in the dark. Although I really like playing on my tractor, it's probably going to be a pretty nasty evening, so I don't know if I'll hold off till tomorrow or Saturday or not. I've got a lot to do Saturday to prepare for my trip on Sunday.

The change in running from 2 min for every 4 minutes of walking, to running 3 minutes for every 3 minutes of walking, was more challenging than I thought it would be. I did the 5 repeats, but I've got to tell you I was looking forward to the walk breaks. Guess I had let myself go a little farther than I had thought. Anyway, my goal is to keep up the momentum, even on the road this weekend. We'll see.

Almost time for lunch and I'm already salavating like Pavlog's dog. Going to have Campbells Chicken Gumbo soup. There are 2 servings in a can, but I'm a big boy and plan on eating both of them. 300 calories. I can live with it. Well, all my FS Warrior Friends, have a wonamous day! Toodles.

Some of those transitions in run/walk programs threw me for a loop, thats for sure. Guess it always depends on the day too. Some days the same thing is so much easier/harder than the one before! Keep up the good work though, you'll be ready for a 5K in no time!!

do you RUN or jog , you must do a pretty good run! Glad you started to work on that break contraption. Did you have ONE plate or TWO of the spagetti, I will assume only one since you passed on two yesterday, good job.

Congrats on just having the spaghetti without the bread. You never fail to impress. And as for your hobbies and chores - I get dizzy following your schedule.

I jog at 5 mph, but it feels like running to me after a couple minutes. I really got out of shape. As soon as I'm running (jogging) 30 minutes at a stretch, then I'll start incorporating 6 mph runs into the mix until I'm running 6 mph for 30 minutes straight. Since that's pretty quick for me, after that I'll have to work on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) to drop another 1/10 of a mph at a time. My goal is 27 minutes for a 5K race. That may not happen until the end of the year or beginning of next year, but it will happen.

You definitely deserve two servings of soup. :) Great job on the run interval progress! I'm somewhat jealous of your 40* temps, but I do not want the slushy mud that will come along with it.....
