This is my first day on this site. My wife is trying to move me to myfitnesspal. I found this site by accident and am thinking about using it. Anyone out there have thoughts?

I gain/lose 5 lbs just based on a heavy eating day (2400cals) and drinking a ton of water. I recognize that I put on glycogen when I eat heavy and that maintains water and there is also the salt factor, but the bouncing up and down drives me CRAZY!!!

I found fatsecret (FS)on my own a over two years ago. My doctor had recommended a different website, but it was blocked by work internet police because of all the ad content. I tried the myfitnesspal app on my phone and found that many of the foods I typically eat weren't in their database. I don't have time to enter it myself. There have been a few things I couldn't find in the FS database (i.e. honey walnut salmon salad from Johnny Carinos), but I have always been able to build a reasonable best guess from the foods that are already loaded. The community here is fantastic and I haven't had any technical issues. When I started here in July 2010 and then ignored the site for two years while life happened, I came back in August 2012 and everything was still here just like I left it. Impressive. Welcome to fatsecret and wish you well on your weightloss journey!

Dan - if you choose to stay! WELCOME!!! Anything you do - whether a phone app or here - DO IT CONSISTENTLY!!! Making a commitment to track your foods (gives you great insight to what you are actually eating, and how much etc.) Then - at least here - there are a lot of folks with a lot of experience - that will 'buddy up' with you to help you along the way!!! Whatever you decide, great job on the decision to start!!!

Welcome! Both are great sites, no matter which you choose.

Both are great! MFP has more tools but I prefer this just for simplicity. Either way you won't go wrong. I thought about jumping ship to MFP once but I love my buddies here and couldn't leave lol. I do refer to MFP now and then still. Good luck to you both.
