momajno's Journal, 11 December 2012

OMG, I was so hungry all morning. Plus I had to take lunch late because I was leaving to wait for the furnace guy (who showed up late). The salad I made was so big I couldn't finish it, but I still hate salad greens. I need to find a better filler. I could eat cucumbers all day though.
Need to plan my dinner better though.

Hi Momajno :) Try adding more fat (good fat, preferred) to your meals. That will definitely keep you feeling full between meals. Cucumbers are a great thing to snack on. Pretty low carb, but not very filling :/ If you like pepperoni slices, you might try those as a snack, too. If you eat a lot of them, I would suggest buying the Turkey Pepperoni slices. They have a lot less saturated fat. Also, since you're not real fond of salad greens, you might try getting your veggie requirement from broccoli florets, canned spinach, brussels sprouts or green beans. They do have more carbs than salad greens, but it might make it easier for you :) The olives are a great idea, too. Lots of good fat, just have to watch the sodium :/ And avocados are full of good fat. Very filling! There's a thread in the Group that covers all the different foods you can eat to get the fat and fiber you need. Hope this helps!

Another tip is to try to add a couple of low carb protein shakes to your diet. I find myself getting hungry sometimes and the protein shakes help to make the cravings go away. I use water with mine but it is just a preference. I use the Amplify Brand from GNC...low in carbs and delicious. It has saved me from binging. Cookies and Cream is the best, then Strawberries and Cream. Also...try drinking more water. You could be thirsty. Sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles have also taken the edge off for me. I hope this helps as well.
