Today starts a new diet that goes with my detox. My goal is still the same. I hope to loose 40lb in 8 weeks - that is 5lb a week. More important....I want to be a size 9, not a size 18.

After that - we will see.

I am not abandoning the Atkins diet because it did not work for me. I could not stay regulated on it. I could not eat 2 cups of lettuce a day and stay under 20g carbs. It just didn't work in my lifestyle

Suzanne, good luck with your new lifestyle choice. Atkins just isn't the best WOE for some people. Sorry that it was that way for you. Hope you are able to accomplish your goals with your new choice!

That's a lot of weight in a short time. Our bodies don't always do what we want them too. But good luck!

Suzanne, I hope your new woe works well for you. Don't try to set such a hard goal for yourself. 5 pounds a week is alot to lose and most people can't do it. If you set an unrealistic goal you will only be disappointed. Even if you lower that goal to 3 pounds a week which is very realistic and healthy you will still be 25 pounds thinner in 8 weeks and if you do better than that then you will just be pleasently surprized. :) I wish you the best of luck and I hope you can make 5 lbs a week but if not I just don't want you to be too disappointed. I lost 5 lbs a week at first but now I am slowing to 3 pounds a week and I am still very happy with that.
