BCLenny's Journal, 14 June 2010

Be careful what you wish for! I just got called to go to work in Fort McMurray Alberta Canada, yikes. It is a large oil tarzans project, there are large camps and I am going to be housekeeping...nice change from housework..lol. I go in for 21 days and out for 7 and back in again. Thanks to my Atkins WOL I feel ready to do this, 6 months ago I would have told them no :(. I will take my laptop so you will still have to put up with me but not as often...lol. Wish me luck...I should get my exercise there. I leave Wednesday morning..yippee a new adventure. :)

Is this something you have to pack up and move for or are you close? (I thought you were in BC). A new adventure sounds fun. Good luck and keep in touch as much as possible!

I have to fly in and out its about a 3 hour flight. It will be an adventure at that. I used to manage a motel and do housekeeping so I know what I have to look forward to...we all can do housekeeping..lol.

I guess I could do it as long as I got paid for it, but personally, I hate housecleaning and I'd rather pay someone to do it for me than do it myself. Sounds like they got themselves a pro coming.

My only concern is camp food :( I am sure I can do bacon and egg breakfast but I don't know how big they would be with salads..not to many men have them at the top of the list while they are working. I just keep picturing a pile of sandwiches...lol.

When you say "Fort" are you talking a military installation? Because if it is, they usually have some healthy food options. Well that is in the U.S.

lol..its in Alberta Canada..its with the oil tarzans..a big oil company sucking oil from the sands there. There are a few large camps that hold thousands of men. I am not sure how Fort McMurray got its name..we have a few forts here..lol.

Nice!!! I love the idea of the adventure ... And housekeeping ???? I just love that .... I am confident that you will manage to keep your WOE in order. It is a challenge, but after all if this WOE is for life we have to stick to it no matter what life brings. We cannot expect life to fit in our WOE, we have to make our WOE fir in our life! Hopefully you will have a lot of stuff to tell us about life in the Fort. We will be waiting to hear from you ...

Wow! That sounds like so much fun!!! So are you going to be managing the cleaning crew or will you be a part of the cleaning crew. Either way you get to fly somewhere, stay in a hotel, see a new place!!!! I love to travel! So is this a temporary assignment or will you be doing it long term? I am so happy for you!!! If I didn't have kids I think I would try to work all over just so I could see some of the world.... or at least North America.
