Up early -- can never sleep in, lol!! Well, I've done it. I changed my goal weight - when I first entered in my goal it was just a number that popped into my head and sounded good. After looking at some BMI stats, I've decided that a goal that is only 3 pounds lower will be an ideal BMI for me. So, 122 HERE I COME!!

Hoping everyone has a restful, delightful weekend :)

LOL...I was up at my usual time too. I did the same thing when I picked a goal weight, I just picked a number that sounded good...never really believing that it was possible, I hoped, but I didn't believe. NOW, I believe & it feels good. 122 is all for you...only 8 pounds. I am so very happy for you & so proud of you all at the same time & I am smiling!

Thanks GG -- I too didn't exactly believe in myself or my number when I first started. It is amazing how this turned into something more than just a diet -- it is now my lifestyle and with that the weight has come off (sometimes easier than others) and boy, am I a believer!! It is a rare day that the smile can be wiped off my face :)

good lord you must be shorter than me.I am 4'11" and my doc says 135 is good.we probably have different frames.Anyway, here we go!!!

I am 5'2" and 135 was good - I was totally within the NORMAL BMI but I have a small frame and feel even better at 130 than I did at 135 -- I think 122 will be ideal - I will not strive to get lower than that. If losing becomes to much of an effort (taking my carbs and calories below where I already am) then I think my body has picked it's own best place to be. You're right -- here we go :)

Good for you! But now you still have 8 pounds to lose. And now it gets interesting because we've both said we'd lose 8 pounds by Christmas. Game on!

I should follow your lead and change my goal weight too, but I'm just not positive I agree with my endocrinologist that a good BMI for me is 20. In the meantime, I'm in for the challenge.

Yes - At my height, to get in the "normal" BMI, I need to weigh 125 0r 128 - I have been that snall before when I was younger and found it difficult to maintain. My current goal will remain for now and is sort of a second starting point. After that, I hope to go down to the 140's. Maintenance has alwayas been difficult for me and I want to find a weight range I can live with - but, goal one first!

HCB -- your words *maintenance has always been difficult for me* really strikes a cord. I am not worried or stressing over maintenance although I am giving it a fair amount of thought these days. I went back this last week and reread the Pre-Maintenance chapter in the newest Atkins book -- there is no way in h*#& I'd ever be able to add back all the foods they list - I cannot tolerate that number of carbs. My reality. I think I have made peace with that. I circled a few items I'd like to add back a small portion of on an occasional basis (if they don't bring back carb cravings) and crossed thru the rest. Even though my goal, even my new, reduced goal, is in sight, I know this is it for the long haul.

Gigi and HCB - I think maintenance is difficult for all of us, else we wouldn't be here in the first place! Presuming I ever get back there, I know I'm going to need FS's help to stay there.

kdgwen - I can think of two reasons that may be true. I used to be 5'6" but have shrunk to 5'5". An inch on that BMI graph makes a big difference! Another reason for us weight loss gals (as gross as it sounds) is that we literally may have pounds of loose skin - bet the BMI graph doesn't take that into account!

Kdgwen -- thanks for your comment and it is certainly something to think about. I have some experience working with the elderly and I do agree that little old gals who have a little fat reserve fair better - they have a little *insurance* against illness and fare better when/if they fall. THAT said, at 52 I am far from elderly - and I think 60 is far from elderly too. I'll consider getting a little fat pad going when I get to be say 80. lol. Until then, the ideal BMI for me is going to be 22-24.
