Djburney's Journal, 09 October 2012

I woke up this morning feeling very light, with that empty feeling you get when you don't eat late the night before. I've had that feeling the past three mornings, and yet, the scale isn't budging. So I measured my waist, and it is down 1/2 inch. I am only one inch away from what Dr. Oz says should be the maximum for a healthy woman. My waist has gone from 47 to 35. Freaking amazing!

I had a denim skirt on yesterday, and when I was walking out of the grocery store, I could feel that my thighs were not dragging against each other. Weird! I haven't felt like that for years! When I was in the huge supermarket, I was thinking about what I buy now that my daughter is gone and I'm just feeding me. All I really need is a tiny market on the corner! I bought 2 zucchini, 2 onions, a head of butter lettuce, a bottle of fat-free salad dressing, and a carton of unsweetened almond milk. And that was a shopping spree for me. I think my food bill has gone down to about $100/month. What an indulgent country the US is, to have so many food choices that really have little nutritional value. Why do we need an entire aisle of breakfast cereal? 20 different kinds of bread?

Stepping off soap box now...the scale is just a measurement of something that has so many variables. It's gratifying to watch it go down, but there are other ways to measure our success. If, like me, your scale isn't moving and you know you have been doing right, get out the tape measure, or try on something that used to be a little tight, or just take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Fat-be-gone!

good! I haven't done the tape measure thing yet. Was really afraid to do it. But there are other measurables to success. I will do it today. I know the thigh rubbing feeling. That's where I am now. I got out of the pool a couple days ago and my thighs didn't even rub, they just stuck together as I walked. I was sick thinking about it. How's this for a goal: no more rubbing/sticking thighs ? Keep it up. You're my inspiration!!!

Glad I could inspire you to something healthy, unlike years ago when I inspired you to drink too much beer with me, Kim!
