Kitten picture for all my cat-loving buddies.

This was our first attempt at breeding Himalayans. They are the result of a joint effort with Catz Boutique (breeder of Mr. Jinx from Meet the Fockers). The mom cat is a lliac lynx point, and we hoped to produce a few lynx points and keep one of the kittens. What could be more fun than being a breeder and having a houseful of kittens?!?

NOTE: NEVER name the kittens if you plan to sell them, and we followed that rule to the letter. We prepared the necessary paperwork and registered the litter. In fact, we weighed the advantage of taking deposits before they were ready to go to their forever homes.

We were the proud "parents" of 1 cream lynx point, 1 flame lynx point, 1 tortie, 1 seal point, and 1 blue-cream lynx point. It was fun having the two girls and three boys even if they had NO NAMES!

The first to leave the nest was a beautiful boy (the flame lynx point). The family had a blue point who was on his last breath and were so heartbroken over their impending loss, we ended up just giving them the kitten. What we didn't anticipate was the mourning experienced by the remaining four kittens. They remained eerily quiet for days.

Days passed, and we finally decided to keep the cream lynx point. Our NO NAME babies grew cuter by the day, and it was a good thing we selected which kitten to keep early on.

That was six years ago.

Twisty thoughts:
Too bad watching what we eat isn't like NO NAME kittens and emotional immunity, huh? Wouldn't it be great if you simply DON'T NAME what you REALLY eat in the food diary and you'd be immune to the calories sitting in your tummy?

P.S.
My cream lynx point is sitting here on my desk as I'm typing my journal entry. I'm sure by the time I get out the camera to share her picture with you, she'll be off playing with her other three NO NAME siblings.

It's a good thing I'm better with my Food Diary entries than I am at being a breeder. It's an even better thing we decided not to have more NO NAME kittens... or we'd definitely be the crazy cat people who live down the street.

What sweet babies! I'm sure your 6 year old is gorgeous; love to see more pictures. It just sunk in that you kept all four aside from the one you gave away; i love it!I would definitely be a crazy cat lady if I ever tried to breed kitties; I've had to limit myself to one at a time, lol.

Yep, we have a total of five. I break out in a cold sweat before each vet visit because I KNOW the receptionist will ask, "What's your cat's name?" I'm sure she probably goes home and says, "You'll never believe the crazy..." (At least the mommy kitty has a name, Nani, which is Hawaiian for beautiful. We're not totally nuts!)

This was just the cutest ever! Love the picture...it's true about not naming them, but it still makes you sad to say goodbye...the consolation being knowing they're going to good homes...thanks for sharing. My kitties are Mama Kitty and Fluffy...

LOL!!! I love how your writing always makes me smile =) Still have 2 of our 3 "no names" 10 years later (Bilbo and Pippin, Raven has passed on), plus a little kitten, named Ankha, who was found in the dumpster last year behind the blood center and is now doing very well. That picture is just adorable!

We had a stray adopt us and have kittens. I tried not to name them, but ended up naming all of them. The mom was Kitty (my husband called her Meow Meow because she was a talker), the kittens were Smokey (gray), Stubs (orange with a stubby tail), Misty's cat (my friend Misty wanted the crazy black kitten), and Crusty (tabby who had crusty eyes one day and the name stuck). It was sooo hard to give them away. I can't do that again. We used to have chickens and they always had crazy names too-Nugget, Hot Wing, Hot Stuff, etc. My favorite was Blorange. We had "banded" all of our look alikes with different color tie wraps...she was blue and orange. Then there was our duck named Ducky and our goose named Goosey. At least the goats were Ellie Mae, Daisy, Rascal, and Dixie and not Goaty.

Thank goodness we're not ranchers -- we'd never be able to sell our cattle whether they have names or not! (or else we'd net lots and lots of land!)
