Are soups really ok in Phase 1? I stood in the soup aisle last night for 10 minutes & even soups with mainly meat (like Chile, or split pea & ham) even those with no rice, noodles, potatoes, corn or carrots, still had 18 to 25 carbs.

I haven't really checked soups myself but I'm guessing the best thing would be to make some yourself. That way you can control everything that goes into it. The canned stuff has so much "extra" stuff in it that probably adds up to the high carbs.

plus check if it has flour or starches to make it thick.

I keep looking for a soup with low carbs & have come up with nothing. I have taken chicken broth & added diced tomatoes, veggies & sprinkled parmesean cheese over it. That turns out very good & is completely o.k. for Phase 1. In Phase 2 you could add brown rice or whole wheat noodles to it.
