Eringiffin's Journal, 12 September 2012

The weigh in this week was so-so. I have lost 0.6 lbs. since last week. I know I am not drinking enough water. I am starting to think I am underestimating my calorie intake as well. Well, tonight is the first workout at the gym. This should be interesting and hopefully not painfully embarrassing but I gotta do it regardless.

Today I am thankful for my DH who is amazing in so many ways. I am thankful for losing at least a little weight this week. I am thankful for the continuing resolve to get back on track in light of recent slow downs in weight loss and flagging motivations to do the right things.

P.S. - It might just be the B6/B12 shot I got this morning or the cup of coffee I allowed myself, but I am feeling so good today!

Hey Erin a loss is a loss - sooooo much better than a gain, remember your body needs time to adjust to losses. Enjoy the gym, the first time is always the worst. I find the only accurate way with calories is to weigh everything....

ROCK IT, you sassy thing! A LOSS is a loss, right? I am so excited for you going to the gym - the only time for embarrassment is when we choose to ignore our weight issues. YOU are actively changing so go there with your head held high and a big smile on your pretty face!

Virtual hugs to you guys! Thanks for the encouragement. I know it will give me courage tonight to step into the gym. I need to get back to measuring things for a bit to remind myself what servings actually look like. Is it just me or is it really confusing to figure what a cup of lettuce looks like. Is that with the lettuce packed tightly in a measuring cup or just scooping and whatever stays in is "a cup"'s worth? These are the things that occupy my mind, lol.

I opt to weigh stuff instead - it takes all the guess work out of it - it seems a pain at first, but now it has just become a way of life. I have those flat kitchen scales that you can put a plate on and zero it....so put your plate on it and zero it, weight meat, zero it, weigh potatoes, zero it...etc. Much easier and eventually you kind of know what things will weigh before you even put it on the scale, so hopefully I eventually won't have to weigh stuff and my brain will have absorbed what is acceptable portion sizes :)
